A Postgraduate qualification in SEN (NASENCO Qualification) or similar is essential.
The Special Education Needs Coordinator (SENCo) is responsible for supporting students with diverse learning needs whilst coaching staff in providing individualised instruction, ensuring that every child has access to a quality education and the opportunity to reach their full potential. This role involves planning, implementing, and evaluating tailored educational programmes while advocating for an inclusive and supportive learning environment within the school.
The School is committed to delivering an outstanding SEN programme that will meet the needs of pupils at all levels. We are committed to securing the highest possible standards of teaching and learning in this area to ensure that our pupils will flourish with the knowledge and skills that will prepare them for future studies and for lifelong learning. A Successful Candidate Will
- Oversee pedagogical practices and classroom management within the department to ensure high quality teaching and learning occurs. This will include modeling excellent teaching practices to other staff within the department.
- Design and deliver individualised education plans (IEPs) tailored to the specific needs of each student that requires additional support in reaching their fullest potential.
- Deliver CPD on SEN to the High School.
- Promote the Lasallian Mission and Core Values of SJIIS
- Ensure that planning, preparation, recording, assessment and reports meet the expectations of the school
- To actively contribute to wider school development and growth
- Demonstrate thorough curriculum knowledge
- Demonstrate a proactive approach towards professional development
