Senior Electrical Engineer

RESPONSIBILITIES : • Lead the electrical engineering design and consultancy for a range of construction projects, including power distribution HT and LV, ELV system, lighting systems, emergency backup power,and building management systems (BMS). • Oversee the preparation of electrical design calculations, detailed drawings, technical specifications, and reports for electrical systems in compliance with local regulations and standards. • Coordinate and collaborate with architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, and other project stakeholders to ensure the integration of electrical systems within the overall project design & budget. • Provide expert advice and technical solutions to resolve electrical design issues during the construction phase. • Review and ensure the quality of electrical installations by performing site inspections and monitoring work progress to ensure compliance with design, safety, and quality standards. • Evaluate the contractor’s submissions, proposals, progress, and installation of the systems by contractors to confirm technical correctness. • Prepare technical & claim documentation, including reports, as-built drawings, operation manuals for systems, project plan and track progress. • Mentor and lead junior engineers, providing guidance and support in their professional development. • Ensure that all electrical designs and installations are compliant with the Malaysian Electrical Act and MS IEC standards, as well as other relevant local regulations. • Manage the electrical aspects of the project schedule and budget, ensuring the timely delivery of design packages and other project milestones. • Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and clients, providing technical support and addressing any issues or queries related to electrical systems during the construction and claim phase. • To attend meetings with Clients, Local Authorities and all stakeholders if needed. REQUIREMENTS: • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus). • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in electrical engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior position within a construction consultancy firm or related field. • Professional Engineer (PE) certification with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM) is a must. • Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) for electrical system design and coordination. • Proven experience in electrical design for construction projects, particularly in power distribution, lighting, fire alarm systems, and building management systems (BMS). • Proficiency in design and analysis software such as AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, PowerWorld, and other electrical design tools. • Strong knowledge of Malaysian Electrical Standards (MS IEC), building codes, and safety regulations relevant to the construction industry. • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to offer practical solutions for electrical design challenges. • Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to interact effectively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities. • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
