Role Overview
The People & Operations Lead is a pivotal new role, responsible for building our People function from the ground up and leading HR operations while driving operational excellence across our key administrative processes. This role is about creating structures in a fast-evolving environment — designing and implementing systems, policies, and frameworks that will enhance efficiency, compliance, and scalability across multiple markets. As the first dedicated leader in this space, you’ll define how we manage people, global mobility, and business operations, laying the foundation for our long-term success. This is a managerial role, with 3 direct reports.
Key responsibilities include:
HR
- Work with senior leadership to build and establish core HR processes and policies from scratch
- Ensure HR compliance across all operating regions, including labour laws, contracts, and data security regulations
- Own end-to-end recruitment operations, including job postings, interview coordination, and hiring processes
- Implement and maintain a Human Resource Management System (HRMS) for employee data, performance tracking, and automation
- Set up and manage onboarding and offboarding for employees, ensuring a seamless experience
- Support L&D administration, working with leadership to enable professional development opportunities
- Design and oversee the performance management process, ensuring structured goal setting and feedback loops
- Oversee compensation and benefits administration, ensuring market competitiveness and internal equity
- Any other People-related items
Operations
- Oversee contracting, background checks, and compliance for independent consultants, clients, partners & vendors, where applicable
- Lead and improve global mobility processes, including work visas, relocations, and tax compliance for consultants and employees
- Ensure regulatory compliance across markets, managing documentation, audits, and legal adherence
- Lead risk management efforts, implementing best practices to mitigate potential compliance and operational risks
- Design and implement scalable operations frameworks that support the company’s growth
- Drive process automation to enhance efficiency and reduce manual administrative work
- Maintain structured e-filing of key employee, consultant, and client documentation
- Build and lead a high-performing operations team, managing three direct reports
- Any other Operations-related items
Whom will you work with?
COO and with dotted-line reporting to the Chief of Staff to COO
Ideal candidates
- Possess at least 3 years of total work experience, with some in HR & Operations
- Thrives in a start-up environment (strong sense of ownership, adaptable, resourceful, tenacious, etc.)
- Excellent attention to detail
- Passionate about the future of work, disruptive talent models, and deliver an amazing experience for independent talent
- Excellent command of English (both written & verbal)
- Strong stakeholder and project management skills
- Preferably with proven experience leading successful teams
