Position Summary:

The Commercial Director (Biddable) will report to Managing Director, Investment & Specialist Solutions of Omnicom Media Group Malaysia. This role is an executive leadership role and plays a pivotal position in leading the growth of investment which encompasses commercial, partnerships, accountability of the entire group network in Malaysia. This role will drive investment product capabilities critical in delivering value to our clients and revenue growth Omnicom Media Group, creating local and leveraging regional marketplace offering too. This role’s agenda is to bring together the best of OMG’s investment growth ambitions and digital performance excellence to drive greater value for both OMG clients, employees and our business. This is a high profile and high visibility position within the organization and the media industry, where the individual must have the leadership seniority in dealings with senior management stakeholders within the organization network as well as external stakeholders such as clients and media partners. This role will work with multiple stakeholders across markets and the individual must be comfortable with a fast-pace and constant changing landscape of media business, and can proactively problem solve and senior stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning Leadership:

  • Develop commercial investment (biddable) and digital leadership products to extract value for the organization and our clients. Digital products are not limited to deals, partnerships but to also include ability to accelerate data-leadership, tech-leadership and strategic excellence in advance digital performance delivery
  • Develop media pricing and benchmarking strategy to ensure increase win rate in pitch conversion and that also protects the interest of Omnicom Media Group
  • Build OMG’s investment (biddable) partnership model basis 4 key pillars – volume deals, product development, people development and thought leadership/marketing initiatives
  • Build a strong image of OMG’s strength in Investment and Trading discipline via good industry presence with industry stakeholders, amongst existing clients and potential clients
  • Articulating marketplace dynamics and translating that into a meaningful and relevant discussion for clients and agencies
  • Work with APAC Investment team and local trading community to drive OMNET and Outcomes growth and expand OMNET and Outcomes solutions to power and position better solutions and value for our clients
  • Co-create digital led OMNET products or smarter investment products i.e. OMG Marketplace and land it in Malaysia
  • Develop, contribute and execute OMG Investment (biddable) ambition and agenda, have clear business plans for growth and drive fame behind the division

Product Development & Deployment Leadership:

  • Drive high OMNET adoption and utilization rate across agencies and clients and implementation of all agency deals (biddable) by ensuring faithful delivery of commitments
  • Facilitate vendor facing OMNET services such as T&E or content to create larger inventory positions and /or deeper margin capabilities within OMNET agreements
  • More generally, to contribute and execute Trading and Negotiation collateral to support in-market trading teams with negotiation skills and capabilities

Agency Marketing Leadership:

  • Build and maintain ethical, open and positive relationships with media owners, clients, research providers and auditors
  • Develop relationship in the industry with media partners, clients and industry peers to have strategic alliances and ability to identify opportunities and strike commercial and trading product deals that is beneficial to OMG, and OMD, PHD & H&S clients
  • Negotiator and deal curator for agency network and on top tier clients within OMD, PHD & H&S
  • Strong leadership and demeanor to manage regional, global stakeholders within the network and client stakeholders
  • To be able to handle pressure from various parties both internal and external, and to cohesively drive shared agenda with stakeholders
  • Ability to hold the presence, and represent Malaysia’s Investment and Digital discipline credibility within OMG regional and global network

Key KPIs:

  • Deliver against Investment unit revenue and value target
  • Deliver against ambition and billings for OMG Investment (biddable) unit
  • Ensure across all OMG clients’ pricing and quality guarantees are achieved to maximize potential bonus achievement
  • Elevate OMG’s investment (biddable) products & solutions, image in the industry and profitability
  • Drive clear agenda, plans to elevate OMG Investment (biddable) products, capabilities, team and profile in the market and within APAC network
  • Drive adoption of OMNET, Outcomes and partnership deals across both OMD, PHD & H&S
  • Deliver strong pitch narrative and pitch offering to give OMG an edge in conversion
  • Build strong partnership with vendors; and to identify gaps and opportunities in creating newer partnerships
  • Expand partnerships beyond just pure media play into data, tech partnerships
  • Ensure seamless operations of overall investment function (OMNET, Trading) and have clear tracking and forecasting to minimize organization’s risk
