Business Development Manager
Designation: Sales/ Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for driving business growth and expanding market presence for the NVOCC (Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier) company. This role requires a proactive and strategic approach to identifying and securing new clients, building strong relationships, and managing the full sales cycle. The BDM will play a key role in increasing revenue by offering customized NVOCC services, including ocean freight, containerized shipping, and logistics solutions, to meet the unique needs of clients.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead Generation & Client Acquisition:
o Identify, prospect, and engage potential clients in need of our services (such as freight forwarders, importers, exporters, and logistics companies).
o Focus on developing new business opportunities in international shipping, ocean freight, and containerized transport.
o Research and analyse new markets, industries, and geographic regions to expand the company’s client base.
• Client Relationship Management:
o Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
o Understand clients' logistics needs and recommend our services that deliver cost-effective and efficient shipping solutions.
o Conduct regular meetings with clients to discuss new services, ongoing needs, and opportunities for further collaboration.
• Sales Strategy & Execution:
o Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve revenue targets, focusing on increasing market share within the NVOCC industry.
o Prepare and present competitive proposals, quotations, and contracts for new and existing clients.
o Negotiate freight rates, service terms, and contracts to ensure profitability and long-term relationships.
o Collaborate with the operations team to ensure the effective execution of contracts and client requirements.
• Market Intelligence & Industry Insights:
o Stay informed of global shipping and freight forwarding trends, regulations, and market changes.
o Monitor competitor activity, including pricing strategies and service offerings, to identify new opportunities for the company.
o Use market intelligence to anticipate customer needs and adapt services accordingly.
• Collaboration with Operations and Customer Service:
o Work closely with the operations team to ensure smooth and timely delivery of services to clients.
o Coordinate with customer service teams to resolve client issues, ensuring that any service disruptions are handled efficiently.
o Provide feedback to improve the company’s offerings based on client feedback and operational performance.
• Networking and Industry Representation:
o Attend trade shows, industry conferences, and networking events to represent the company and expand its professional network.
o Actively engage in industry associations and forums to stay connected with potential clients and partners.
• Reporting and Analysis:
o Maintain accurate records of sales activities, leads, opportunities, and client interactions in CRM systems.
o Provide regular reports on sales performance, market conditions, and competitive analysis to senior management.
o Analyze sales data to evaluate the effectiveness of sales strategies and propose adjustments as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
o Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field.
o Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development or sales in the logistics, freight forwarding, or NVOCC industry.
o Good knowledge of NVOCC operations, ocean freight services, and shipping regulations.
o Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
o Strong understanding of NVOCC services, international shipping routes, and containerized transport.
o Proficient in CRM software, MS Office, and other business tools.
o Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
o Self-motivated, target-driven, and able to work independently or as part of a team
