Description
The General Secretary will function as the Chief Executive of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) in a full-time position with responsibility for the administration of the Secretariat and for managing the key activities of the Federation in compliance with the organisational regulations. The execution of the duties will be in accordance with the directions and policies established by the Council with the aim of assisting the Council in its governance functions of the Guyana Football Federation.

The execution of the duties will be in accordance with the directions and policies established by the Council with the aim of assisting the Council in its governance functions of the Guyana Football Federation.
Responsibilities
The General Secretary shall be responsible for:
- To devise and develop operational plans to achieve the GFF strategy, submitting plans and proposals to the Council for decisions.
- To provide the football association with direction and leadership to deliver its commercial objectives as agreed with the President and Council, including consolidating and growing existing income streams (especially sponsorship) as well as identifying and exploiting new income streams.
- To lead the workforce of the football association in order to ensure the efficient and effective management of all operations.
- To motivate and inspire the staff, creating a culture which allows staff to develop to their full potential.
- To manage and be accountable for the financial performance of the national association and to monitor and control costs in line with the objectives set by the Council.
- To ensure that the football association has a well-considered communications strategy and to oversee and direct its effective execution.
- To support the president in ensuring that the football association delivers on all of its statutory requirements and promotes the highest standard of corporate governance and transparency.
- To support committees and football bodies as appropriate in order to influence and shape policy for the development of football across the country and, where required, within the confederation and worldwide.
- To organise the Congresses and meetings of the Council and other bodies of the Federation.
- To attend the Congresses and meetings of the Council, Emergency Committee and the standing and ad-hoc committees.
- To implement decisions passed by Congress and the Council in compliance with the President’s directions.
- To develop appropriate and constructive working relationships with the Federation’s Members, the Guyana Olympic Association - GOA, the Caribbean Football Union - CFU, the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football - CONCACAF, and the Fédération Internationale de Football Association - FIFA to execute the business of the Federation.
- To maintain the operational efficiency of the Secretariat by managing office operations, policies and procedures.
- To liaise with the President on issues pertaining to the daily functioning of the Secretariat.
- To recommend to the President the appointment and dismissal of staff for the Secretariat.
- To execute any other function that may be assigned by the President from time to time.
Requirements
- Post-graduate degree in Management, Business Management, Public Administration or Human Resource Management.
- All Candidates should have at least 8 – 10 years of professional experience in a senior management position.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- Proven office management and administrative experience.
- Excellent management skills with the ability to prioritise and delegate tasks.
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule to meet the demands of the Council.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent IT skills, including knowledge of a range of software packages.
- Experience in Sports management will be an asset.
