SENIOR ENGINEER (CASTING)

JOB PURPOSE

Responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, maintenance and repair of die-casting moulds. It requires advanced technical expertise in mould design, troubleshooting and improvement processes to enhance production efficiency, quality and reliability.

JOB SCOPE

Mould Maintenance and Repair:

  • Plan, coordinate and execute maintenance schedules for diecasting moulds to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues related to mould performance, including wear, deformation, and core pin or ejector breakages.
  • Supervise and perform repairs, modifications, and refurbishments on moulds to extend their lifespan and maintain quality standards.
  • Oversee post-maintenance mould testing and validation to ensure readiness for production.

Technical Leadership and Improvement:

  • Lead root cause analyses (RCA) for mould-related defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with design and production teams to optimize mould designs for improved performance and durability.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce mould-related downtime, rejection rates and production inefficiencies.

Team Management and Training:

  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers and technicians on mould maintenance best practices.
  • Assign and supervise tasks, ensuring proper execution and adherence to safety and quality standards.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repair histories and mould performance data.
  • Prepare and present reports on maintenance KPIs including downtime, repair frequency and cost analysis.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/ Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5 - 7 years of experience in related field. Preferably in mould maintenance or die-casting environment.
  • Basic knowledge of casting processes such as sand casting, die casting, or investment casting.
  • Strong organizational/time management skills.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel & Powerpoint.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
  • Able to multi-task and work under pressure
