Job Title: IT Infrastructure Architect

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled IT Infrastructure Architect with advanced technical expertise and deep architectural experience, particularly in the context of financial institutions. This role requires a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks such as the Risk Management in Technology (RMiT) guidelines in Malaysia. The ideal candidate will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of sophisticated, secure, and high-performance IT infrastructure solutions tailored to support mission-critical financial operations and drive business innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Advanced Infrastructure Architecture:

  • Design and implement cutting-edge IT infrastructure strategies that ensure scalability, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop end-to-end architectural blueprints, covering compute, storage, network, and security layers, tailored for financial institutions.
  • Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies such as hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI), edge computing, and containerization to enhance operational efficiency and resilience.

2. Cloud & Virtualization Solutions:

  • Architect robust hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructures leveraging platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP, ensuring seamless integration with on-premises systems.
  • Spearhead the migration of complex legacy systems to modern, cloud-native environments while maintaining strict compliance with financial-sector regulations.
  • Implement advanced cloud optimization strategies, such as auto-scaling, workload balancing, and reserved capacity planning, to achieve cost and performance targets.

3. High-Performance Networking & Security Design:

  • Design and deploy high-throughput, low-latency network architectures with advanced SD-WAN and VPN configurations tailored for financial transactions.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to implement next-generation security solutions, including intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), advanced encryption, and zero-trust frameworks.
  • Ensure full compliance with RMiT, GDPR, PCI DSS, and ISO 27001 standards while maintaining flexibility for evolving regulatory requirements.

4. Automation & Orchestration:

  • Lead the development of fully automated infrastructure provisioning and lifecycle management using Terraform, Ansible, and similar tools.
  • Establish Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and Configuration-as-Code (CaC) practices to ensure repeatability, scalability, and rapid deployment.
  • Integrate advanced orchestration platforms to streamline workflows across DevOps pipelines, enabling faster time-to-market for critical updates.

5. Operational Excellence:

  • Conduct advanced capacity planning and predictive analytics to ensure system readiness for future growth and demand spikes.
  • Implement proactive monitoring solutions leveraging AI/ML technologies to detect anomalies and optimize performance in real time.
  • Develop comprehensive disaster recovery (DR) and business continuity (BCP) solutions with near-zero recovery time objectives (RTO) and recovery point objectives (RPO).

6. Technical Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Serve as the organization’s foremost technical expert on infrastructure architecture, offering guidance on complex technical challenges.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including cybersecurity, application development, and business stakeholders, to align infrastructure with organizational goals.
  • Mentor and upskill technical teams, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Successful implementation of advanced, scalable infrastructure solutions that meet regulatory standards.
  • Reduction in operational costs through the adoption of automation and optimization techniques.
  • Achievement of industry-leading uptime and system performance metrics.
  • Full compliance with RMiT and other relevant financial regulations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or related fields.

Professional Experience:

  • 12+ years of experience in IT infrastructure roles, including 5+ years in architecture design for financial institutions.
  • Demonstrable expertise in delivering complex, large-scale infrastructure projects.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Advanced knowledge of server architectures, including blade servers, hyperconverged systems, and enterprise storage solutions.
  • Expertise in virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix) and containerization technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
  • Deep understanding of cloud architecture, security, and cost optimization on platforms like AWS, Azure, and GCP.
  • Proficiency in high-performance networking, including SD-WAN, MPLS, and network segmentation.
  • Hands-on experience with advanced scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins).
  • Strong understanding of RMiT guidelines and other financial regulatory requirements, with proven experience in designing compliant infrastructure.
