- Assisting with Dim Sum Production Lines: You would work on an assembly line or in various stations where different types of dim sum are made. This could include tasks such as filling dumplings, folding buns, or preparing wrappers.
- Ingredient Preparation: You would help with prepping large quantities of ingredients, ensuring everything is properly measured, chopped, and ready for mass production.
- Quality Control: Ensuring that the dim sum meets the required quality standards in terms of size, appearance, and taste. You’d also need to check for consistency and uniformity in the products being produced.
- Packaging: After production, dim sum products are typically packaged for distribution. You could be involved in packaging, labeling, and ensuring that all items are sealed and stored correctly for transport.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Maintaining a clean and safe working environment is critical in a factory. This includes adhering to food safety standards, cleaning equipment, and ensuring all hygiene protocols are followed.
- Monitoring Production Flow: Helping ensure the production process runs smoothly and making sure that there is minimal downtime. If any issues arise (e.g., a machine malfunction or a problem with ingredients), you would report it to a supervisor.
- Learning and Development: As an apprentice, you'd gain exposure to all stages of dim sum production and be trained on the processes, techniques, and equipment specific to the factory environment. Over time, you'd develop the skills to take on more responsibility and possibly move into a supervisory or leadership role.
