Job Summary:
The Lorry Driver (Class E & GDL) is responsible for operating heavy goods vehicles, ensuring safe and efficient transportation of goods across various distances. This role requires a professional driver with a valid Class E and GDL license, knowledge of road safety, and experience in the handling and delivery of freight. The driver will follow delivery schedules, ensure vehicle maintenance, and comply with traffic regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Driving & Delivery:
  • Safely operate a lorry or truck with a Class E or GDL license to transport goods to specified locations.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely delivery of products to clients, ensuring all delivery documentation is completed correctly.
  • Plan and follow the most efficient route for deliveries and pick-ups, considering traffic, road conditions, and legal requirements.
  • Vehicle Maintenance:
  • Regularly inspect and maintain the vehicle, ensuring it is in good working order and adheres to safety regulations.
  • Report any vehicle defects or maintenance issues to the transport manager.
  • Keep records of fuel consumption, mileage, and any vehicle-related repairs.
  • Safety & Compliance:
  • Adhere strictly to all traffic regulations, safety protocols, and company policies.
  • Ensure proper load securing to prevent accidents and damage.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations and report any hazards immediately.
  • Customer Service:
  • Interact professionally and courteously with clients and customers.
  • Handle customer complaints or issues effectively, ensuring a positive company image.
  • Assist with loading and unloading of goods if necessary.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, fuel consumption, and other relevant documentation.
  • Ensure delivery notes, receipts, and other forms are signed off correctly.

Required Qualifications:

  • Licenses: Valid Class E and GDL driving licenses, with a clean driving record.
  • Experience: Proven experience as a lorry driver or in a similar role within the transportation or logistics industry.
  • Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of road safety and regulations.
  • Ability to handle long hours of driving and manage stress effectively.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (for loading/unloading).
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
  • Good physical condition to meet the demands of the job
  • Good physical condition to perform driving tasks for extended hours

Requirements:

  • Valid Passport: Must possess a valid passport with no blacklisting restrictions.
  • Travel Requirements: Frequent travel to Singapore is required, and candidates must be prepared for regular international trips.
  • Proven experience as a driver with a clean driving record.
  • Excellent knowledge of traffic laws and regulations.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays if necessary.
  • Ability to drive for extended periods and cover long distances.

Desirable:

  • Experience in operating both large and small commercial vehicles.
  • Forklift certification or knowledge of warehouse operations.
