The position is responsible for maintaining current and complete, computerized transactional entries, file and record keeping in print and digital media. The accountant oversees the daily journaling of income and expenditures and keeps all the stakeholders aware of how they are doing with their budgets (support staff, teachers, and managers). The accountant support in making monthly/adhoc reports to the Chief Financial Officer (C.F.O.) and Director on cash holdings in all accounts including cash on hand as well as month end and year end reports to the C.F.O. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Contributes to establishing policies and procedures documentation Manage cashflow and ensure sufficient cash to meet all obligations Responsible for Month End and Year End Closing reports for submission to the Home Office Provide financial indicators for monthly executive summary Assist with the development of the annual budget Monitors the overall budget with input of the daily requisitions Responsible to maintain the accounting software system / QuickBooks Monitor and submit payment for withholding tax Journalise all POS sale transactions Prepare monthly recurring journals and Balance Sheet schedules Responsible for monthly bank reconciliations and BS reconciliations Verify all payments submitted for authorization Process monthly payroll for all staff (permanent and contract) o Journalize all payroll transactions o Prepare statutory and submit for payment o Monitor and process all staff deductions o Prepare annual Earned Income Statement for relevant staff member Manage the Fixed Assets capitalization, depreciation, tracking and annual stock-take Manage annual audit and prepare the necessary schedules as requested Manage insurance update and annual renewal Attends the weekly finance meetings and updates the finance team on issues as they arise within their primary area of responsibility Responsible to prepare annual compliance report for submission to Home Office Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, bankers, company secretary and statutory bodies Other duties as assigned by the C.F.O. SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS: 1. A TEAM player, especially on the Finance & Office Teams 2. Able to communicate well in verbal and written English and represent OIS well to the community and stakeholders 3. Work with employees in other departments and help them understand finance questions related to their specific budgets 4. Ability to think quickly and act appropriately in emergency situations 5. Able to be flexible and adapt to change 6. Able to function properly under time constraints and perform well under pressure 7. Understands and fully supports the Mission and Vision Statements of OIS 8. Support the broader OISKL program by attending extracurricular events when possible
