Position Overview:
As a Tax Manager, your main objective is to achieve business growth by developing and maintaining strong working relationships with key business decision-makers, informing them of our scope of services and communicating how these services benefit their organizations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the preparation and filing of all Malaysian tax returns, including corporate income tax, transaction tax such as sales and service tax and withholding tax etc., and international tax matters (if any).
- Preparation and review of tax provisions and deferred tax calculations, ensuring accurate financial reporting of tax liabilities.
- Manage and oversee the planning and application of indirect tax exemptions, including SST compliance and exemptions application. To supervise and keep clear and organized sales tax in/out for manufacturing activities and inventory purchase and disposition. Report on Sales tax monthly to tax authorities and track on sale tax refund.
- Lead e-invoice implement project. Collaborate with external consultants and internal departments to plan and implement the e-invoice system, ensuring compliance with Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRBM) requirements.
- Provide tax advice and guidance on business transactions, investments, and new projects in Malaysia.
- Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize our tax position in Malaysia, including advising on efficient tax structures and transactions.
- Lead the preparation of transfer pricing documentation, ensuring compliance with Malaysian regulations.
- Provide expert tax advice and guidance to internal stakeholders on business transactions, restructuring initiatives, and other tax-related matters.
- Manage tax audits and disputes with Malaysian tax authorities, working closely with external advisors as needed to resolve issues.
- Assist HR departments on the expat tax process, providing guidance on expatriate tax issues and ensuring compliance.
- Stay updated on changes in Malaysian tax laws and regulations, assessing their impact on the business and recommending proactive measures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field. CPA, ACCA, or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in tax compliance, advisory, and planning roles, with a focus on Malaysia taxation. Experience in a multinational company or Big 4 accounting firm is strongly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of Malaysian tax laws and regulations, including proficiency in corporate income tax, Sales and Service tax, transfer pricing, and withholding taxes.
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across functions and regions.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, capable of understanding complex tax issues and providing practical solutions.
- Hands-on experience in managing tax audits and disputes, demonstrating a track record of successful resolutions.
- Strong project management skills, able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders.
