Job Summary

The Head of Operations is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the efficient and effective operation of all duty-free warehouses across the ASEAN region. This role involves managing third-party warehousing providers, streamlining processes, implementing and monitoring service level agreements (SLAs), and leading inventory management strategies. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in warehouse management within the duty-free or retail industry and a proven track record of optimizing operational efficiency, driving performance improvement, and managing costs effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Warehouse Management:

    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of all duty-free warehouses in the ASEAN region.

    • Manage relationships with third-party warehousing providers, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations and performance standards.

    • Implement standardized processes and procedures across all warehouse locations to optimize efficiency and minimize operational costs.

    • Develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor warehouse performance and identify areas for improvement.

  • Process Optimization:

    • Analyze existing warehouse processes and identify opportunities for simplification and automation.

    • Lead initiatives to streamline workflows, reduce manual handling, and improve overall operational efficiency.

    • Implement robust reporting mechanisms to provide real-time visibility into warehouse operations and inventory levels.

  • SLA Management:

    • Develop and implement comprehensive SLAs with third-party warehousing providers.

    • Monitor SLA compliance and performance, ensuring adherence to agreed-upon service levels.

    • Address any SLA breaches promptly and effectively, working with providers to implement corrective actions.

  • Inventory Management:

    • Oversee the end-to-end inventory management process, including demand planning, purchasing planning, and stock control.

    • Collaborate closely with the buyer team to ensure optimal inventory levels are maintained to meet customer demand while minimizing stock holding costs.

    • Implement inventory management best practices, including cycle counting, stock rotation, and obsolescence management.

  • Cost Management:

    • Monitor and analyze warehouse operating costs, identifying areas for potential cost reduction.

    • Implement cost-saving measures, such as negotiating favorable rates with warehousing providers, optimizing storage space utilization, and minimizing waste.

    • Develop and manage the operational budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with business objectives.

  • Leadership and Team Management:

    • Build and lead a high-performing operations team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

    • Provide guidance, mentorship, and development opportunities to team members.

    • Ensure effective communication and coordination within the operations team and across other departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field.

  • 10-15 years of relevant experience in warehouse management, preferably within the duty-free or retail industry.

  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory management, and logistics.

  • Experience in managing third-party warehousing providers.

  • Proven ability to optimize processes and drive operational efficiency.

  • Demonstrated experience in cost management and cost reduction initiatives.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

  • Regional experience in ASEAN is highly desirable.
