Job Description


Job Summary:

As a Mechanical Engineer in manufacturing, you will play a critical role in our engineering team by designing, reviewing documenting, and maintaining assembly jigs and fixtures used in product assembly processes and product testing. Your expertise will ensure that our products are assembled and tested with precision and consistency, meeting all quality standards. You will also be responsible for managing documentation to support the use, maintenance, and updating of these jigs and fixtures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development:
  • Conceptualize and design assembly jigs, fixtures, and test equipment to support product testing and manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, quality assurance, contract manufacturers and suppliers
  • Participate in Design Reviews of supplier design and drawings
  • Utilize CAD software (Creo, SolidWorks) to create and review detailed designs and drawings for jigs and fixtures.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and analyses to ensure designs meet technical specifications and performance requirements.
  • Generate Requirement documents to provide clear design proposal and technical requirements.
  • Testing and Validation:
  • Develop test procedures and protocols to validate the functionality and reliability of jigs and fixtures.
  • Perform hands-on testing and debugging of jigs and fixtures to ensure they meet design intent and quality standards.
  • Analyze test results and make necessary adjustments to designs based on performance data and feedback.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
  • Oversee the maintenance and calibration of jigs and fixtures to ensure consistent performance over time.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to jigs and fixtures, providing technical support to the production team as needed.
  • Implement improvements to existing jigs and fixtures to enhance efficiency, reduce downtime, and improve product quality.
  • Documentation:
  • Create comprehensive documentation, including design specifications, assembly instructions, and maintenance manuals, for all jigs and fixtures.
  • Maintain records of design changes, testing results, and maintenance activities.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in the design, testing, and maintenance of jigs and fixtures.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mechanical engineering and test development.
  • Participate in design reviews, project planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, manufacturing, pneumatics, or a similar role
within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (Creo, SolidWorks) and other relevant engineering tools.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatic systems, materials, and
manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with the design, development, and maintenance of assembly jigs and fixtures.
  • Hands-on experience with testing and troubleshooting mechanical assemblies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects
simultaneously.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience in Consumer electronics
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) and capability studies
  • Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) software and tools.
  • Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • office-based with visits to production, testing and supplier facilities.
  • Hands-on work in a lab or shop environment
  • Some travel may be required to support testing activities or collaborate with other teams.
