Job description
- Occupational Health Assessments:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of workplace hazards, including physical, chemical, biological, ergonomic, and psychosocial factors, to identify potential risks to employee health and safety.
- Perform medical evaluations of employees to assess their fitness for specific job duties, including pre-employment screenings, periodic health assessments, and evaluations following workplace injuries or exposures.
- Occupational Health Surveillance:
- Develop and implement surveillance programs to monitor and track occupational health risks and trends among employees, including exposure monitoring, medical surveillance, and health outcome assessments.
- Analyze surveillance data to identify patterns, trends, and areas for improvement in occupational health and safety practices, and provide recommendations for preventive measures.
- Health Promotion and Education:
- Design and deliver health promotion and education initiatives to raise awareness of occupational health and safety issues among employees, supervisors, and management.
- Provide training sessions, workshops, and educational materials on topics such as workplace ergonomics, chemical safety, infectious disease prevention, and stress management.
- Medical Consultation and Treatment:
- Provide medical consultation and treatment to employees for work-related injuries, illnesses, and health concerns, including first aid, acute care, and referrals to specialists as needed.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, occupational health nurses, and other professionals to ensure appropriate medical care and follow-up for injured or ill employees.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay informed about relevant occupational health and safety regulations, guidelines, and best practices, and ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements and industry standards.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and protocols to promote a safe and healthy work environment and minimize occupational hazards.
- Risk Assessment and Management:
- Conduct risk assessments of specific work activities, processes, and environments to identify potential hazards and implement controls to mitigate risks.
- Participate in incident investigations to determine root causes of accidents, injuries, or illnesses, and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with management, occupational safety professionals, human resources, and employee representatives to address occupational health and safety concerns and promote a culture of safety.
- Communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization to foster engagement, support, and participation in occupational health and safety initiatives.
