Job Purpose :

The Commercial and Supply Chain is responsible for strategically driving profitable business relationships with suppliers by negotiating contracts with distributors, managing pricing, and optimizing procurement strategies, ensuring the smooth flow of goods while maximizing cost-efficiency within the supply chain, often collaborating closely with internal stakeholders like local and India manufacturing plants and logistics teams to achieve overall business objectives for Ranbaxy (M) Sdn Bhd in Malaysia and Singapore.

Also responsible for strategically balancing the production and distribution of pharmaceutical products to meet market demand while optimizing inventory levels, ensuring timely delivery to customers, and minimizing costs, all while adhering to strict regulatory requirements within the healthcare sector.

Accountabilities:

1. Demand Forecasting:

  • Analyze market trends, sales data, and customer forecasts to accurately predict future demand for pharmaceutical products across Malaysia and Singapore and different channels.

2. Supply Planning

  • Develop production plans based on demand forecasts, considering manufacturing capacity, raw material availability, and lead times to ensure sufficient product supply.

3. Sales and Marketing Collaboration:

  • Analyze promotional plans and marketing campaigns to assess their potential impact on product demand.
  • Provide insights on pricing strategy and product positioning to support sales and marketing initiatives.

4.Risk Management:

  • Identify potential risks and uncertainties that may impact demand, such as product recalls, clinical trial outcomes, or changes in reimbursement policies.
  • Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks and maintain supply stability.

5. Supplier/Distributor Relationship Management:

  • Identify and source new suppliers and distributors, evaluating their capabilities and market competitiveness. Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers and distributors, ensuring favorable pricing and terms. Build strong relationships with key supplier and distributor contacts to foster collaboration and address potential issues.
  • Monitor supplier and distributor performance against agreed KPIs (key performance indicators) and address any performance gaps.

6. Reporting and Analysis:

  • Generate regular reports and presentations highlighting key demand trends, forecast accuracy, and potential issues.
  • Analyze forecast deviations and identify areas for improvement in the demand planning process.

7. Procurement Strategy Development:

  • Analyze market trends and identify cost-saving opportunities within the supply chain.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with overall business goals.
  • Conduct cost analysis and price negotiations for key commodities and services.
  • Implement sourcing strategies like competitive bidding, RFQs (Request for Quotations), and framework agreements.

8. Contract Management:

  • Review and draft complex commercial contracts with suppliers and distributors, ensuring legal compliance and risk mitigation.
  • Manage contract amendments and renewals to reflect changing market conditions and business needs.

Monitor contract compliance and address any potential breaches.

9. Logistics Coordination:

  • Manage the movement of pharmaceutical products through the supply chain, including warehousing, transportation, and distribution to pharmacies and hospitals.

10.Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure all supply chain activities adhere to relevant regulatory standards, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Distribution Practices (GDP).

11.Cost Optimization:

  • Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives across the supply chain.

Analyze spend data to identify areas for cost optimization.

Qualifications Knowledge and experience:

12. Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders including Sales, Operations, logistics, and planning teams to ensure smooth supply chain operations.
  • Communicate key commercial updates and potential issues to relevant teams regarding supplier performance, distributor, pricing changes, and contract negotiations.
  • Collaborate with regulatory affairs to understand potential impacts of regulatory changes on demand forecasting.

13. Market Analysis:

  • Stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and potential risks impacting the supply chain.
  • Conduct market research to identify new suppliers and sourcing opportunities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis tools and statistical modeling techniques.
  2. Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  3. Understanding of the pharmaceutical industry, including market dynamics, regulatory landscape, and product lifecycle management.
  4. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  5. Proven experience in procurement and supply chain management.
  6. Deep understanding of commercial terms and conditions.
  7. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
  8. At least 10 years of experience working in Supply Chain/Commercial function in Healthcare, Pharmaceutical or FMCG Industry.
