Position Summary: The Deputy General Manager – Internal Operations will oversee and optimize the company’s core internal functions, focusing on safety, maintenance, IT, business development, reporting, and compliance. This role is critical to ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory adherence, and innovation in our logistics processes. Finance and HR functions are excluded from this role, allowing a concentrated focus on operational and strategic growth areas.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Efficiency & Reporting
- Develop and maintain internal reporting systems, analyzing key performance metrics to assess operational effectiveness.
- Provide insights and regular reports to senior management, enabling data-driven decision-making.
Safety & Compliance
- Establish, implement, and oversee safety protocols and procedures to maintain a secure environment across all sites.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory and legal requirements, such as OSHA and DOT standards, across all areas of operations.
- Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and training to foster a proactive safety culture within the organization.
Maintenance & Equipment Management
- Oversee maintenance schedules and ensure proper functioning of equipment, vehicles, and facilities to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
- Manage relationships with maintenance and repair vendors, negotiating contracts for cost-effectiveness and service reliability.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs and manage equipment upgrades to ensure operational readiness.
IT & Systems Optimization
- Collaborate with the IT department to assess and enhance logistics and warehouse management systems, supporting automation and digitalization initiatives.
- Work on system integration projects to optimize operational workflows, improve tracking, and streamline reporting.
- Stay informed of advancements in logistics technology, proposing and implementing relevant upgrades and tools to increase operational efficiency.
Business Development & Strategic Initiatives
- Support the identification and evaluation of new business opportunities, partnering with the Business Development team to explore growth strategies.
- Coordinate the implementation of strategic initiatives aimed at expanding service offerings or improving current processes.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to align operational capacity with market demand and customer expectations.
Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization
- Analyze and optimize internal processes for operational efficiency, applying Lean or Six Sigma methodologies as appropriate.
- Develop and implement process improvement plans, enhancing productivity and reducing operational costs.
- Lead cross-functional teams to address operational challenges, fostering innovation and process improvement.
