Job Summary

Lead, manage and guide the Litigation Department in providing the required legal services which shall include the provisioning of legal advice and handling/managing the litigious matters impacting the Commission, with a view of ensuring the interest and rights of the Commission are well safeguarded and within the laws.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Manage and oversee the rendering of the required legal services by the Department, and coach the members of the Department in rendering the same, to ensure the legal services provided achieved its optimal outcome;
  2. Plan the delivery of the Department’s key deliverables to ensure the deliverables are in line with department’s objective;
  3. Evaluate the legal advice provided on matters affecting the Commission, to ensure sound advice is provided in safeguarding the interests and rights of the Commission;
  4. Liaise with the external legal counsel handling the litigious matters brought by and against the Commission and internal stakeholders that relate to the litigious matters, to ensure that the Commission’s interests and rights are upheld;
  5. Monitor the progress of the litigious matters affecting the Commission in ensuring that the Commission’s legal rights and interest in respect of the litigious matters are well safeguarded;
  6. Be present at trials before the courts of law and Tribunals, to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the legal matters raised and the legal interests of the Commission are well protected;
  7. Attend meetings and/or discussions with internal and/or external stakeholders in respect of the litigious matters, to ensure that the Commission’s legal interests are duly safeguarded; and
  8. Lead, coach and guide the staff in technical expertise, management and soft skills where necessary in order to enhance capabilities and deliver up to expectations.

Qualification and Work Experience

  1. LLB (Hons) from a reputable university;
  2. A member of the Malaysian Bar will be an added advantage;
  3. Minimum 12 – 16 years of working experience in a legal environment. Exposure to handling litigious matters will be an added advantage; and
  4. Exposure to communications and multimedia laws will be an added advantage.
