We are seeking suitably qualified candidates to apply for the Commercial Services Manager position in Campus Services at the University of Nottingham Malaysia (UNM).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all commercial services and teams including food and beverage operations, vending services, medical clinic, laundry and other services are provided to students, staff and the community with high quality.
  • Developing and implementing service level agreements, continual improvement processes and ensuring financial sustainability of all commercial services.
  • Ensuring quality of student and staff experience via all services offered.
  • Responsible for identifying new commercial opportunities and working with Head of Campus Services on a business case for each opportunity.
  • Actively collaborate with relevant stakeholders to coordinate consultants and knowledge resources to ensure that project/work deliverables are coordinated, integrated, and support the objectives of the project/work.
  • Possess deep understanding and monitoring of the food health and safety protocols and other government regulations to ensure compliance with regulations and provide extensive first level support & troubleshooting. To ensure all systems, workplace, machinery and spaces are maintained in a clean and safe conditions.
  • Training, mentoring, and supervising staff to deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Develop regular reporting on the services, service levels, quality and other key attributes for each service in the portfolio. To be provided to Head of Campus Services and to MB when appropriate. Understand key financial metrics including for budgeting, cost control, and financial management and making recommendations to Head of Campus Services.
  • Provides the leadership, vision, and direction to bring together and prioritise departmental goals in a way that will be efficient and effective.
  • Develop and implement an effective feedback mechanism initiative to gain information about the satisfaction of staff and student experience.
  • To develop close and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders in Estates, Security and Student Association.
  • To monitor and manage assets and stores of consumables. To recommend preventative maintenance and asset replacement where appropriate.
  • To develop capability for commercial and professionally managed conferences by joining up accommodation, F&B (catering), transport, cleaning services.
  • Organise workflow and appointments by monitoring and routing correspondence and collecting students, staff and university guests’ information.
  • To supervise and provide leadership for direct reports.
  • To execute and attend any ad-hoc task or duties assigned by immediate superior and Head of Department.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Candidate must possess at least 7 years experience in a similar role or a food & beverage and commercial services management in any recognised institution or equivalent.
  • Excellent customer service skills and experience.
  • Computer literate with strong knowledge in MS Office applications such as Excel, Words and Outlook.
  • Good typing skill and analytical skill.
  • Good in problem solving.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team of personnel.
  • Have pleasant personality with good communication skill.
  • Excellent work attitude.
  • A team player with proactive in work.
  • Strong interpersonal skill and problem solving skills.
  • Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Hardworking, adaptable and willing to learn.
  • Able to multitask and work within tight dateline.
  • Proven experience as managing food court and restaurant/cafe or other customer support role.
  • Dynamic, highly motivated and result-oriented team player.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Able to work on standby when the needs arises.
  • Willing to work on shift working hours if required.
