Job Summary

The Sales Manager/ Assistant Sales Manager (Life Science & Research) will be responsible for planning, implementing and directing the company’s sales activities. They will lead a team of sales representatives, set sales targets, develop sales strategies and planning and ensure the team meets or exceeds revenue and profitability goals.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

  • Recruit, train, manage and motivate the sales team.
  • Set clear sales goals and targets for the team.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to help team members improve their sales skills.

Sales Strategy:

  • Develop and execute a sales strategy to achieve company sales objectives.
  • Identify new markets, customer needs and opportunities for growth.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitors to stay ahead in the market.

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers.
  • Handle escalated customer issues and complaints.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.

Sales Forecasting:

  • Analyse sales data and market trends to make accurate sales forecasts.
  • Adjust sales strategies based on market changes and feedback.

Product Knowledge:

  • Stay up to date on the company’s products or services and understand their features and benefits.
  • Train the sales team to effectively communicate product knowledge to customers.

Reporting:

  • Generate regular reports on sales performance, market trends and competitors.
  • Present reports to senior management and provide recommendations.

Budget Management:

  • Manage the sales department budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
  • Allocate resources efficiently to maximize return on investment.

Sales Tools and Technology:

  • Utilize sales management software, CRM systems and other tools to track and manage sales activities.
  • Ensure the team is trained to use these tools effectively.

Compliance:

  • Ensure the sales team adheres to company policies and legal requirements,
  • Monitor and enforce ethical business practices.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor or Master in Molecular Biology, Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical, Biochemistry, Medical Science or related studies.
  • Proven experience as a Sales Manager/ Assistant Manager or in a similar sales leadership roles.
  • Knowledge in the field of molecular biology or equivalent research or industrial experience.
  • Experience in Next Generation Sequencing and/or Microarray technologies is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in sales management software and CRM systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet and exceed sales targets.
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills.
  • Must have own transport and willing to travel extensively within Malaysia & Overseas.
