The Role
The Technical Product Owner is responsible for closing the gap between the technical and the business side of our product development. You are responsible to develop and communicate the product goals, create and clearly communicate product backlog items, and order the backlog to maximize business value. You will have a combination of analytical, stakeholder management and strong planning skills. Ideally, you’ll have expert knowledge in the payments industry.
Main Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Senior Product Manager to understand the business strategy and deliver approved features and capabilities in the platform
- Create, maintain, and refine the product backlog for your engineering team
- Elaborate approved features into clear and complete epics and user stories following the Agile Scrum methodology
- Work with the Business Analysts to breakdown business epics, document stories, design details and acceptance criteria
- Create product requirements documents to ensure the team understands the goals and priorities as well as the technical requirements for each project
- Collaborate with the Engineering Lead to estimate time frames and quality and quantity of resources required to implement projects
- Drive backlog refinement sessions to prepare business epics and stories for technical breakdown and planning, ensuring all requirements are well understood by the Product Development Team
- Own the delivery of the Quarterly Release Plan for your team, prioritising feature delivery against defects and technical debt reduction.
- You act as an escalation point for your team to clarify requirements, elaborate on stakeholder needs, and communicate the business goals
- You assist with product acceptance testing and provide business context around minimum acceptable quality.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree focused on business, finance, or requisite industry experience
- 3+ years in a product development function as a product owner, business analyst or in a technical capability with good domain-level understanding of payments industry.
- Proven ability to engage with engineers, product managers and business analysts in a constructive and collaborative relationship.
- Experience within the Payments industry an advantage
- Experience in Agile development process, framework, and tools
