Group Account Manager – Job Description

Position Summary

The Group Account Manager oversees the company’s finance and accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and strategic decision-making. This role includes managing audits, budgets, financial analysis, and implementing internal controls while optimizing processes, overseeing the accounts team, and ensuring compliance with Malaysian regulations, including e-invoicing.

Key Responsibilities: -

1) Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with MFRS and Companies Act 2016.
  • Ensure tax compliance with LHDN, SST, and other statutory obligations.
  • Manage audits and liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies such as SSM, LHDN, and Bank Negara Malaysia.

2) Oversee Accounts Team & Workflow

  • Supervise and guide the accounts team in daily operations, including bookkeeping, reconciliations, tax filing, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll processing.
  • Review work prepared by accounting staff to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with financial regulations.
  • Provide ongoing training and mentorship to improve team efficiency and financial reporting standards.

3) E-Invoice Implementation & Digital Compliance (Preferably knows what to do for e-invoicing)

  • Understand and implement Malaysia’s e-invoicing requirements as per LHDN’s digital taxation framework.
  • Ensure all transactions comply with e-invoicing mandates, digital tax filing, and real-time reporting standards.
  • Work with IT teams to integrate UBS Accouning system with e-invoicing platforms.
  • Maintain digital record-keeping for audit and compliance purposes.

4) Financial Analysis & Forecasting

  • Conduct variance analysis (actual vs. budget) and provide SMART recommendations for financial improvements.
  • Deliver cost-saving initiatives and optimize cash flow management across multiple business units.

5) Operations & Process Improvement

  • Optimize accounting policies, procedures, and financial reporting systems.
  • Oversee accounts payable/receivable, taxation, cash flow, and budgeting.
  • Support operational teams with financial analysis, cost estimation, and ROI analysis.

6) Team Leadership & Strategy

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance team.
  • Communicate financial insights effectively to superiors.

7) Other Responsibilities

  • Handle ad-hoc assignments as directed by superiors.
  • Provide support across departments when necessary.

Job Requirements: -

Professional certification (ICAEW, ACCA, MICPA, CPA, CIMA).

Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, with 3+ years in a leadership role.

Strong knowledge of local tax regulations, statutory reporting, and e-invoicing compliance.

Experience in retail, F&B, property rental, money lender, construction and FFB is preferred.

Proficiency in UBS and financial modeling (Excel).

Skills & Competencies: -

Ability to deliver impactful financial presentations.

Proactive in identifying financial efficiencies and improvements.

Strong leadership and decision-making skills under pressure.
