Principal Accountabilities:
1.Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, cabling, and electrical installations.
- Develop and manage electrical project budgets, ensuring cost control and financial targets are met throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review and evaluate cost proposals from suppliers and subcontractors for electrical works.
- 2.Cost Monitoring and Control:
- Track and monitor the cost of electrical installations and ensure that all work is completed within the approved budget.
- Implement cost control measures and regularly report on any variations or cost overruns to the Project Manager.
- Prepare and review cost reports, forecasts, and cash flow projections for electrical works.
- 3.Tendering and Procurement:
- Assist in the preparation of tenders for electrical works, ensuring that specifications and schedules are met.
- Evaluate and select electrical subcontractors and suppliers based on cost, quality, and technical competence.
- Negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and favorable terms for electrical materials and services.
- 4*.Contract Administration*:
- Review contracts and subcontracts for electrical works, ensuring all terms and conditions are clear and in line with project requirements.
- Monitor contract performance to ensure that contractual obligations are met, and assist in resolving any disputes related to electrical works.
- Maintain comprehensive records of procurement, contracts, and cost-related documentation.
- 5. Project Management Support:
- Collaborate with the project team to assess project progress and ensure that electrical work is delivered on time and within budget.
- Attend site meetings and work closely with electrical engineers, contractors, and suppliers to resolve any technical or financial issues.
- Assist in managing the schedule for electrical works and monitor progress against timelines.
- 6. Value Engineering and Risk Management:
- Identify cost-effective solutions and value engineering opportunities for electrical installations without compromising quality or safety.
- Proactively manage risks associated with electrical systems, including procurement delays, material shortages, and design changes.
- Provide advice on how to minimize cost and maximize value during the planning, design, and construction phases of electrical projects.
- 7. Quality and Compliance:
- Ensure that all electrical work complies with relevant standards, codes, and regulations.
- Conduct regular site visits and inspections to verify that electrical installations are completed according to specifications and quality standards.
- Coordinate with the quality assurance team to ensure that electrical work meets the required safety and operational standards.
- 8. Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of electrical project costs, contracts, variations, and claims.
- Provide regular reports on cost performance, project status, and any issues related to electrical work to management.
