Job Title: Demi Chef – Coffee House
Location: AnCasa Hotel Kuala Lumpur
Reports To: Chef de Partie / Sous Chef
Position Overview:
As a Demi Chef in the Coffee House of AnCasa Hotel Kuala Lumpur, you will assist the Chef de Partie in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of food items, with a focus on coffee-based offerings, light meals, snacks, and pastries. Your role will involve maintaining high standards of food quality, kitchen hygiene, and customer service. You will work as part of a team to ensure smooth operations within the coffee house kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Food Preparation: Assist in preparing and cooking a variety of dishes such as sandwiches, pastries, breakfast items, salads, and light meals. Ensure all food items are prepared to the highest standards of taste, quality, and presentation.
- Menu Support: Help execute the daily menu, as well as special offerings or promotions. Follow recipes and instructions to ensure consistency and quality in all dishes.
- Kitchen Operations: Maintain an organized and clean work environment, including adhering to proper food storage, labeling, and rotation procedures. Clean kitchen equipment and tools as required, following food safety protocols.
- Customer Service: Contribute to a positive guest experience by preparing food to order and ensuring timely delivery. Occasionally interact with guests to accommodate special requests or dietary preferences when needed.
- Inventory Management: Assist in stock rotation, inventory checks, and alerting the Chef de Partie or Sous Chef of any shortages or issues with supplies.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Follow all health, hygiene, and safety regulations, ensuring that the kitchen is compliant with local and hotel-specific standards.
- Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other chefs, kitchen staff, and baristas to ensure smooth operations in the coffee house. Provide support to junior team members and assist with training where appropriate.
- Support the Chef de Partie: Assist the Chef de Partie with daily tasks, ensuring that kitchen operations are efficient and food service is delivered on time. Take on responsibility for a section of the kitchen when required.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Commis Chef, Demi Chef de Partie, or in a similar kitchen role, preferably in a coffee house, café, or casual dining environment.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, including coffee-based dishes, sandwiches, pastries, and light meals.
- A strong understanding of food safety practices, kitchen hygiene, and sanitation.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment, managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Culinary qualification or relevant experience preferred, but not essential.
