Responsibilities:
- The role is part of the Asia Pacific Client Devices, one of the teams behind the publication of IDC Trackers, key product offering of IDC. The successful candidate will need to develop an understanding of the client devices (PC, tablet, monitor, wearables) landscape in the Asia/Pacific region and eventually become an expert in this area. The job scope involves conducting local market research and delivery of accurate data and market insights to IDC Tracker clients.
Responsibilities:
- Key responsibilities include: running the devices tracker on a quarterly schedule, guidance reconciliation, performing quality checks on the data, input of data into the database, preparation of qualitative analysis of the market with a summary of key market developments, answering client inquiries and preparing client presentations with market insights. The role involves gathering insights about the current and future market situation through primary and secondary research and translating it into data, therefore the candidate needs to demonstrate research capabilities, attention to detail and be a very meticulous person. The position also involves working with a lot of ambiguous data and taking decisions based on limited amount of information, so critical thinking and ability to make judgement is key.
- Part of the role will be to liaise with colleagues and clients in other countries and therefore capability of working in a virtual team and across different time zones is a must. This role will be reporting to a manager in Singapore.
- Solid communications skills, both verbally and written. Good writing skills. Ability to draw key conclusions from vast amount of information.
- High level of comfort with data, as well as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of pivot tables, formulas and creation of charts in both Excel and PowerPoint is required. Knowledge of macros is a plus. Must be comfortable working with large data sets. Good mathematic skills are required.
- Good research skills. Ability to conduct primary and secondary research, look in right places, ask right questions to obtain answers required.
- An understanding of technology and economic concepts. Critical thinking skills are also required.
- Ability to develop and maintain internal and external relationships with stakeholders.
- Interest in personal computing hardware and technology is preferred.
- Attention to detail, meticulousness, ability to identify errors quickly.
- Can work both independently and in a team, and can adapt to rapidly changing workloads.
- Experience in coordination, planning, and decision making is a bonus.
- Fluent English as well as Mandarin is preferred.
