  • Ensure that all food and ingredients supplied to KFC outlets comply with Malaysia's regulatory requirements, as well as the franchisor's policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with and the implementation of the franchisor’s Food & Safety Quality (FSQ) standards for both existing and potential vendors.
  • Provide support to vendors through training, as needed, and guide them in the implementation of franchisor’s FSQ standards for suppliers.
  • Review and evaluate potential vendors' FSQ programs and their implementation to ensure compliance with franchisor’s standards.
  • Review the vendor's Product Specifications, Quality Assurance Program (QAP), Notification of Changes (NOC), and other FSQ documentation requiring approval, ensuring the validity of approved FSQ documentation.
  • Monitor raw ingredient vendors through QA checks and franchisor’s pre-audits.
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct routine supplier inspections, including QA checks, franchisor’s pre-audits, and reviews of relevant FSQ documentation.
  • Submit inspection reports to the supplier and ensure timely response on corrective actions for any highlighted issues.
  • Review and assess the effectiveness of the supplier's corrective actions; collaborate with the supplier to develop preventive measures for issues.
  • Address FSQ-related complaints concerning products supplied to restaurants.
  • Attend to restaurant/internal complaints pertaining to supplier’s FSQ raw ingredients supplied to restaurant.
  • Lodge restaurant complaints with the affected supplier in a timely manner, request and review their corrective actions, and update the complaints tracker accordingly.
  • Coordinate and carry out microbiology sampling according to the routine Microbiology Sampling and Testing Plan, as well as any ad-hoc sampling and testing when necessary.
  • Liaise with approved lab vendors and restaurant personnel to expedite routine product microbe sampling and testing as outlined in the sampling plan.

  • Ensure that non-conformances are investigated and resolved.
  • Compile routine monitoring results and report to the person in charge (PIC) monthly.
  • Verify purchase orders, lab vendor invoices, and test results before submitting them to the Finance Department for payment processing.
  • Conduct routine product cuttings on core/key products to align with the franchisor's standards and highlighting any quality issues uncovered during product cutting sessions to the affected supplier, when necessary, and ensure a timely response on corrective actions.
  • Review and assess the effectiveness of the supplier’s corrective actions and collaborate with the supplier to develop preventive measures for the highlighted issues.
  • Ensure internal Halal applications are completed for all new products and promotions and submitted to the KFC Halal and Shariah department prior to launch.
  • Gather information from relevant departments regarding new products (including existing products supplied by new suppliers) and promotions.
  • Process the internal Halal application for new products and promotions and submit to the KFC Halal and Shariah department before launch dates.

Job requirements:

  • Degree in Food Science/Food Technology/Food Engineering/Food Microbiology/Food Service or any relevant food related discipline.
  • Preferably with 1-2 years of working experience in food and beverage industry related to QA field.
  • Having Internal Auditor/Lead Auditor Certification will be an added advantage.
  • Solid understanding in Food Safety & Quality system.
  • Able to work independently, a team player and proactive.
  • Good command in English and Bahasa Malaysia (written and verbal).
  • Able to work during odd hours or during the weekend as and when required.
  • Must be able to work in challenging low hygiene conditions, such as poultry slaughtering areas with exposure to blood, feces, and associated odors and stains.
  • Exposure to mild chlorine-based environments, such as spin chillers, hand dips, and footbaths, is expected.
  • Willing to travel independently within major district in Sabah and Sarawak.
