About the role

As an Indirect Tax Compliance Lead, you will support the Indirect Tax Compliance Manager in ensuring the business remains compliant with indirect tax regulations across multiple jurisdictions. This is a hands-on role where you will review tax returns, supervise analysts, and develop standardized processes to enhance compliance and efficiency. You will also work cross-functionally to optimize end-to-end tax processes and support business operations.

Key responsibilities

Tax Compliance & Reporting

  • Prepare and review VAT/GST/sales tax returns and reconciliations.
  • Ensure indirect tax rules are correctly applied to master data.
  • Manage tax debtor reports and compliance timetables.
  • Assist in tax audits, ensuring accurate and timely data submission.

Process Optimization & System Management

  • Identify and implement process improvements across tax functions.
  • Support the rollout of SAP and other tax-related systems.
  • Work with finance, supply chain, and IT to optimize end-to-end tax processes.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Supervise Indirect Tax Analysts, providing guidance on reporting and compliance.
  • Conduct internal training to enhance tax knowledge and system expertise.
  • Collaborate with business partners to resolve tax queries and enhance compliance.

Qualifications and skills

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in indirect tax compliance, preferably in an MNC or Big Four environment.
  • Strong knowledge of VAT/GST/sales tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in SAP and advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
  • Experience with PowerPoint, SharePoint, PowerBI, and Visio for reporting and documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to optimize tax processes.
  • Leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and develop a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English (additional languages are a plus).
  • Ability to travel internationally when required.
