We are currently seeking to recruit an Application Scientist (NGS and Genomics) as an addition to the Application Sciences team. The successful candidate will be working closely with key research sites and facilitating various cutting-edge applications in agriculture and health sciences by applying genomics, data and software technology.
The key role of this position is to apply knowledge and technology to digitize organisms (e.g. DNA/RNA, demographics, phenotype) and surrounding processes (e.g. weather, environment, lifestyle, activities), and work with other departments to converge different datasets into meaningful insights to support research discovery and industrial applications.

Job scope:
- Serving as key representatives in building effective relationships with the customers, maintaining scientific activities and addressing their research needs
- Managing genomics, bioinformatics, software and/or database-related contract research and collaboration
- Conducting literature studies and keeping up-to-date with technological developments such as Next-Generation Sequencing and bioinformatics solutions
- Delivering product presentations, seminars and demos to customers with scientific and technical depth
- Understanding customers' research and needs
- Providing scientifically sound experimental design, software workflow, sequencing and digitisation strategy to address specific research questions and industrial problems
- Providing new ideas, technical consultation and optimal support to customers at both pre-sales and post-sales levels
- Maintaining internal documentation and SOP
- Testing software and mobile apps based on specific research needs
- Developing training materials and providing product training to customers
- Working closely with the sales team and technical (bioinformatics, data science and software engineering team)
- Collecting and analysing feedback from customers before communicating with the technical team for better product development and optimisation
- Collaborating with local and international researchers on the grant application for research innovation and product commercialisation
Skills:
- A degree in Life Sciences (biology, biotechnology, genetics, genomics, bioinformatics, agriculture) or equivalent; fresh graduate is encouraged to apply
- Research experience and/or MSc/PhD degree relevant to Next Generation Sequencing (NGS; specifically on the genome, transcriptome, epigenome and metagenome), biological software and databases is an added advantage
- Knowledge of bioinformatics, data science and biostatistics is an added advantage
- Industrial experience in using data recording, sample management and inventory software or mobile app is an added advantage
- Ability to drive customer interest with a broad portfolio of applications and solutions
