Job Summary: The Senior Dynamic Positioning Officer (SDPO) is responsible for operating and overseeing the Dynamic Positioning (DP) system onboard a vessel, ensuring precise station-keeping and safe operations in offshore environments. The SDPO assists in navigation, safety management, and vessel positioning, working closely with the bridge and engineering teams. Key Responsibilities: - Dynamic Positioning Operations: - Operate and monitor the DP system to maintain the vessel's position as per operational requirements. - Ensure safe and efficient DP operations, following procedures and emergency protocols. - Continuously monitor thrusters, power management, and DP alarms for optimal system performance. - Conduct DP system tests, including Auto DP, DP Failures, and Position Reference System (PRS) checks. - Maintain DP logs, reports, and records for audits and compliance. Navigation & Safety Compliance: - Ensure vessel operations comply with IMO, Flag State, Class, and DP regulations. - Conduct risk assessments for DP operations and ensure proper mitigations are in place. - Assist in navigational duties, including passage planning and watchkeeping. - Participate in drills and emergency response procedures, including DP failure scenarios. Technical Support & Maintenance: - Work closely with the Chief Engineer and ETOs to ensure DP system reliability. - Report and troubleshoot DP-related malfunctions. - Assist in DP audits, trials, and annual DP-FMEA testing. Team Collaboration & Reporting: - Communicate effectively with the Bridge Team, Engineers, and Offshore Installation Manager (OIM). - Provide daily reports on DP operations, station-keeping status, and any system issues. Assist in the training of Junior DPOs and bridge crew in DP operations.
