The Welder is responsible for fabrication, repair, and maintenance of metal structures and components onboard vessels, offshore platforms, or rigs. This includes welding, cutting, and assembling metal parts using various techniques to ensure the integrity and safety of vessel structures, piping systems, and machinery. The Welder must comply with safety and quality standards, including offshore welding codes and maritime regulations. Key Responsibilities: Welding & Fabrication: - Perform welding, cutting, brazing, and soldering on various metal components. - Fabricate and repair pipes, hull structures, handrails, brackets, and machinery parts. - Work with carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and other alloys as required. - Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding procedures. Equipment Operation & Maintenance: - Operate welding machines, plasma cutters, oxy-fuel torches, and grinding tools. - Inspect and maintain welding equipment and consumables. - Ensure all tools and equipment are in safe and operational condition. Safety & Compliance: - Follow safety procedures for hot work operations, including Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems. - Ensure compliance with IMO, SOLAS, MARPOL, and company safety regulations. - Conduct welding tasks in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society), ABS, DNV, or equivalent offshore welding standards. - Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fire blankets, and ventilation systems during welding. - Participate in safety drills, firefighting, and emergency response exercises. Structural & Mechanical Support: - Assist in maintenance and repair of offshore structures, deck fittings, and cargo handling equipment. - Support mechanical and piping systems maintenance, including hydraulic and pressurized piping repairs. - Work with the maintenance team to ensure timely completion of fabrication projects
