A Quality Control (QC) Assistant in the food industry is responsible for ensuring that food products meet safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Below is a general job scope for this role: 1. Quality Control & Inspection Conduct quality checks on raw materials, in-process production, and finished products. Inspect packaging, labeling, and product appearance to ensure compliance. Monitor production processes to maintain hygiene and food safety standards. Perform sensory evaluation (taste, texture, smell) of food products. Verify that products meet internal and external quality specifications. 2. Food Safety & Hygiene Compliance Ensure adherence to HACCP, GMP, Halal, and other food safety regulations. Conduct routine hygiene inspections in production and storage areas. Assist in implementing and monitoring sanitation procedures. Ensure employees follow food safety and hygiene guidelines. 3. Testing & Documentation Collect product samples for laboratory testing (microbiological, chemical, and physical tests). Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results, and quality reports. Assist in preparing and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Record and report any quality deviations or non-conformances. 4. Issue Handling & Corrective Actions Identify and report defective products or process issues. Work with production teams to implement corrective actions. Assist in investigating customer complaints related to product quality. Ensure proper documentation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). 5. Support for Audits & Certifications Assist in internal and external audits (e.g., Halal, HACCP). Prepare required documents and records for audits. Support the Quality Assurance (QA) team in compliance-related tasks. 6. Training & Continuous Improvement Provide support in training production staff on quality and food safety procedures. Suggest improvements in production processes to enhance product quality. Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices in food safety.
