Job Summary:

The Project Planner is responsible for developing, monitoring, and maintaining project schedules, ensuring that the projects in mechanical, electrical, and civil construction are completed on time and within scope. The Project Planner will collaborate closely with the project management team, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure the effective execution of project timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, update, and maintain detailed project schedules for mechanical, electrical, and civil construction projects.
  • Break down the project into manageable work packages, setting realistic timelines and goals.
  • Utilize project management software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project) to manage project timelines and deliverables.
  • Incorporate resource loading and leveling in project schedules to optimize manpower and equipment allocation.
  • Ensure project milestones are aligned with contract requirements and construction sequences.
  • Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure all parties are aligned with the project schedule.
  • Attend project meetings to provide updates on the status of the schedule and discuss any potential delays or issues.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to integrate lead times for materials and equipment into the project schedule.
  • Regularly track the progress of project tasks and compare actual progress to the scheduled timeline.
  • Identify any deviations from the project plan, investigate reasons for delays, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Update schedules to reflect changes due to project modifications, delays, or acceleration.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential scheduling conflicts or delays.
  • Prepare mitigation plans to address potential risks and work with project teams to implement contingency measures.
  • Adjust schedules as needed in response to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., weather delays, material shortages).
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on project progress, highlighting key milestones, upcoming deliverables, and any scheduling concerns.
  • Generate reports for upper management, including forecast completion dates, project health assessments, and potential impact of delays.
  • Provide detailed schedules for client review and ensure that the project is tracking according to contractual obligations.
  • Assist in preparing project cost forecasts by analyzing resource needs and timelines.
  • Ensure that the project is progressing within the approved budget and avoid cost overruns by managing schedule efficiency.
  • Monitor the availability and usage of project resources (e.g., manpower, materials, equipment) to prevent bottlenecks and downtime.
  • Evaluate the impact of any change orders on the project schedule and make necessary adjustments to keep the project on track.
  • Work with project control teams to update baseline schedules when scope or deadlines change.
  • Maintain detailed records of project plans, schedules, and updates for audit and reference purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies in all planning activities.
  • Recommend improvements to project planning processes to increase efficiency and minimize delays.
  • Analyze completed projects for lessons learned and apply insights to future planning efforts.

Requirements and skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project planning within mechanical, electrical, or civil construction.
  • Proficiency in project management software such as Primavera, Microsoft Project, or similar tools.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, project phases, and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

SALARY NEGOTIATION depending on level of education, competency, years of experience and personal capabilities.
