Safety Responsibilities

Implement safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Maintain accurate records of all safety incidents, near-misses, and safety-related training.
Follow up on safety audit findings and incident reports to implement corrective actions.
Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop mitigation strategies.
Promote a safety-first culture by encouraging employees to report hazards and participate in safety programs.
Ensure emergency response plans are up to date and employees are trained in emergency procedures.
Perform routine safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards.

Key Functions

Conduct inspections and audits to identify hazards and assess risks in the workplace.
Collaborate with management and department heads to establish safety goals.
Provide safety training and education to employees.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
Maintain records and prepare reports on safety performance and compliance.
Monitor and enforce the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety gear.
Work closely with site management and subcontractors to address safety concerns.
Ensure compliance with all company safety requirements and regulatory standards.

Can speak in English & Bahasa Malaysia
Proven experience as safety officer (1-2 years)
BSc/BA in safety management, engineering or relevant field is preferred
Must have yellow book or any certs related to safety
In depth knowledge of legislation (e.g. OSHA) and procedures
Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
Proficient in MS Office; Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus
Outstanding organizational skills
Diligent with great attention to detail
Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics
Certificate in occupational health and safety
