Safety Responsibilities
- Implement safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Maintain accurate records of all safety incidents, near-misses, and safety-related training.
- Follow up on safety audit findings and incident reports to implement corrective actions.
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop mitigation strategies.
- Promote a safety-first culture by encouraging employees to report hazards and participate in safety programs.
- Ensure emergency response plans are up to date and employees are trained in emergency procedures.
- Perform routine safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards.
Key Functions
- Conduct inspections and audits to identify hazards and assess risks in the workplace.
- Collaborate with management and department heads to establish safety goals.
- Provide safety training and education to employees.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain records and prepare reports on safety performance and compliance.
- Monitor and enforce the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety gear.
- Work closely with site management and subcontractors to address safety concerns.
- Ensure compliance with all company safety requirements and regulatory standards.
- Can speak in English & Bahasa Malaysia
- Proven experience as safety officer (1-2 years)
- BSc/BA in safety management, engineering or relevant field is preferred
- Must have yellow book or any certs related to safety
- In depth knowledge of legislation (e.g. OSHA) and procedures
- Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
- Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
- Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
- Proficient in MS Office; Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Diligent with great attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics
- Certificate in occupational health and safety
