Safety Responsibilities

  • Implement safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of all safety incidents, near-misses, and safety-related training.
  • Follow up on safety audit findings and incident reports to implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Promote a safety-first culture by encouraging employees to report hazards and participate in safety programs.
  • Ensure emergency response plans are up to date and employees are trained in emergency procedures.
  • Perform routine safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards.

Key Functions

  • Conduct inspections and audits to identify hazards and assess risks in the workplace.
  • Collaborate with management and department heads to establish safety goals.
  • Provide safety training and education to employees.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports on safety performance and compliance.
  • Monitor and enforce the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety gear.
  • Work closely with site management and subcontractors to address safety concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Can speak in English & Bahasa Malaysia
  • Proven experience as safety officer (1-2 years)
  • BSc/BA in safety management, engineering or relevant field is preferred
  • Must have yellow book or any certs related to safety
  • In depth knowledge of legislation (e.g. OSHA) and procedures
  • Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
  • Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
  • Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
  • Proficient in MS Office; Working knowledge of safety management information systems is a plus
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Diligent with great attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and explain health and safety topics
  • Certificate in occupational health and safety
