Country Head (Malaysia)
Reports To: Managing Director - Southeast Asia
Job Summary:
As the Country Head for Malaysia, you will be responsible for driving the strategic growth of TAG in the Malaysian market. This role requires a dynamic leader with a strong background in business development, a deep understanding of the local market, and the ability to establish and maintain key client relationships. You will lead the Malaysia office, overseeing all operations while focusing on expanding TAG's market presence and achieving business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive business development strategy to drive growth and increase market share in Malaysia.
- Identify and aggressively pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and potential clients across various industries.
- Establish and cultivate strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and industry leaders.
- Lead complex negotiations and close high-value deals that align with TAG's strategic goals.
- Continuously explore and analyze market trends to identify new opportunities for growth and expansion.
Market Strategy & Planning:
- Conduct market analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive threats in the Malaysian market.
- Develop and implement market entry strategies for new products or services, ensuring alignment with the overall business strategy.
- Collaborate with regional leadership to set revenue targets and business objectives for Malaysia.
Leadership & Management:
- Lead and manage the Malaysia team, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring alignment with TAG's values and goals.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Malaysia office, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and adherence to company policies.
- Provide mentorship and development opportunities for team members, building a strong, capable team.
Client Relationship Management:
- Act as the primary point of contact for key clients in Malaysia, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and retention.
- Work closely with the client services team to deliver exceptional service and value to clients, driving repeat business and referrals.
- Monitor client feedback and implement strategies for continuous improvement.
Financial Management:
- Manage the P&L for the Malaysian market, ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded.
- Develop and oversee budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and cost-effective operations.
- Report regularly to regional leadership on financial performance, business development activities, and market conditions.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
- Identify and mitigate risks associated with business operations in Malaysia.
- Maintain high ethical standards and promote a culture of integrity within the team.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Management, or a related field. A Master’s degree (e.g., MBA) is an advantage.
- Experience: Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in business development, account management, or leadership roles within the advertising, marketing, or creative industries.
- Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Malaysian market, including cultural nuances, industry trends, and competitive landscape.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, inspire, and manage a diverse team effectively.
- Client Relationship Management: Strong track record of building and maintaining relationships with high-value clients and stakeholders.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute strategic plans that align with organizational goals.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present ideas and influence decision-making at all levels.
- Financial Acumen: Experience managing budgets, P&L responsibilities, and achieving financial targets.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to changing market conditions.
- Ethics & Integrity: High ethical standards and a commitment to fostering a culture of integrity.
