We are seeking an Engineering Specialist with extensive experience in process control and automation systems utilized for the control of Gas Plants, NGL Fractionation Plants, Refineries, petrochemicals plants, Pipelines and Distribution facilities. Experience should include project experience mainly in compressors & turbomachinery control automation systems design, installation and commissioning for Oil & Gas facilities. Expertise in the implementation of Turbo Machinery control and process control for hydrocarbon processes. Candidate must be able to work with different disciplines such as operating sites, process engineering, facility planning, and project management. Candidate is required (when needed) to travel to different sites which are spread across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Requires a solid understanding of chemical engineering principals, process control and plant operations. Ability to work with others and excellent communication skills (written and oral) are required.

As a recognized company expert in his field of engineering specialty, incumbent provides professional advice regarding operational processes, equipment, technology, facility design and solutions to operational and maintenance issues. Responsible for maintaining and incorporating new, cost-effective solutions in design through Engineering Standards, Material Specifications and design Best Practices. Represents Saudi Aramco in dealings with vendors, manufacturers and/or design firms providing expert technical recommendations in his field of specialty.

Minimum Requirements

Education: B.S. Engineering in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical engineering.

Experience:

  • Minimum Ten (10) years of professional experience as an engineer in responsible charge of technical work in field of specialty.
  • Experience with at least one turbo machinery control system used by Company.
  • Have participated as lead engineer in major Automation System project and conducted commissioning and startup activities.
  • Experience with turbine and compressor control applications and their control systems.

Communications Skills:

Must have excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills and be willing to transfer implicit knowledge to specialists and engineers in the field.

Education: Master's degree or PhD in Engineering.

Experience:

  • Previous work with a major international Oil & Gas Company and/or previous employment with one of the turbo machinery control system used by Company.
  • Previous participation in HAZOP and / or SIL analysis studies for oil & gas facilities.
  • Design and Implementation of different control schemes (Boiler Control, Motor Control, Burner Management, Compressor Control)

Professional Membership:

Have been an active member in a relevant professional society, (ie. ISA, IEEE, etc.) for a minimum of 3 years and hold current membership.

Certification:

Have one or more of the following certifications:

  1. ISA- Certified Automation Professional (CAP)
  2. Certified Functional Safety Professional (CFSP)
  3. TUV FSEng
  4. Principles & Practice of Engineering (PE) certification
  5. Chartered Engineer (C.E.) license or registration

Publications:

Have presented several papers / presentations in relevant industry conferences and / or published one or more papers in related industry or technical journals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides expert advice and assistance to Company organizations, outside vendors, manufacturers and design firms on matters relating to Compressors & Turbomachinery Control systems.
  • Originates and carries out engineering studies to determine optimal solutions to complex technical problems, increase revenue, reduce cost and improve process safety.
  • Works with and/or leads Task teams assigned to investigate incidents or solve specific technical problems. Undertakes special assignments requiring extensive technical experience and discretion when dealing with outside organizations.
  • Develops and maintains Saudi Aramco Engineering Standards, Material Specifications, Procedures and Best Practices to enhance company profitability, safety and productivity.
  • Reviews and evaluates capabilities of vendors and contractors to determine their acceptability to perform major services to Saudi Aramco. Acts a Company representative in technical dealings with vendors, manufactures and design firms.
  • Evaluates and introduces best practices and new technologies to enable to Company to achieve Best in Class performance in oil and gas business.
  • Performs cost analyses and Value Engineering studies to recommend cost-effective solutions to technical issues.
  • Publishes papers for peer-reviewed journals and delivers presentations to international audiences at technical exchange meetings.
  • Promotes learning environment and provides leadership and acts as a mentor to less experienced engineers within his group.
  • Delivered technical courses to young talent in the Company Technical Services Professional Academy (TSPA).
