Executive – Sustainable Finance and Climate Strategy
Job Summary
The Executive - Sustainability (Sustainable Finance and Climate Strategy) is responsible for providing support for the coordination and enablement of the Bank’s sustainability efforts. The role encompasses supporting the identification, strategy, documentation and monitoring of climate action plans and targets for the Bank whilst advocating for greener financing solutions and a low-carbon economy. The role will report to the Head of Sustainable Finance and Climate Strategy.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Functional (job responsibilities)
- Contribute to the development, encouragement, and monitoring of the implementation of the Bank’s sustainability strategies and initiatives.
- Assist in identifying, calculating, analyzing, documenting, and monitoring baseline emissions, in support of the Bank’s Net Zero ambition.
- Assist in the assessment and scenario analysis of financed emissions for identified asset classes to set pragmatic sectoral strategies, development of appropriate carbon reduction and offsetting measures.
- Encourage sustainability initiatives within the Bank, including facilitating financing solutions and initiatives such as green bond frameworks, green and sustainable securitizations, VBI, sustainability-linked loans, etc.
- Contribute to the refinement of the Bank’s Sustainable Finance Framework and monitor disbursement of the same.
Managerial (team/group responsibilities)
- Support the alignment of sustainable financing targets, climate action, and decarbonization strategy initiatives with the Bank’s sustainable strategic intent and goals for the financial year.
- Proactively develop knowledge and experience within the field.
- Collaborate effectively within the team to foster a positive team environment and deliver high-quality results in an efficient and timely manner.
Jobholder Requirement
- Malaysian citizen
Education/Qualification
- Degree-level qualifications in environmental science or a related discipline; or in Financial, Business, Risk Management, or related tertiary/degree qualifications with separate accreditations in Environmental/Climate Change studies.
Experience
- 2 years and above experience in climate-related fields, climate finance, sustainable finance, banking, environmental science, or a similar field.
- Basic understanding of sustainability principles, frameworks, and best practices. An understanding of climate change and environmental risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
- Proactive, eager to learn, and self-motivated, with the drive to become a strong advocate for sustainable initiatives within the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess and interpret sustainability data and metrics, with a keen eye for detail.
