Job Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accountant to manage financial transactions, reporting, and compliance while overseeing key operational aspects related to finance. This role will collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure financial efficiency, compliance, and cost optimization in business operations.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Accounting & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate financial records and prepare financial statements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing.
  • Reconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and receivable.
  • Prepare and review general ledger entries and balance sheet reconciliations.

Operations & Financial Oversight

  • Work closely with operations teams to ensure financial alignment with business activities.
  • Monitor and control operational expenses to improve cost efficiency.
  • Develop financial procedures to support operational workflows and decision-making.
  • Assist in procurement and vendor management by ensuring cost-effective spending.
  • Analyze financial impact of operational decisions and provide recommendations.

Tax & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with local tax regulations (GST, SST, corporate tax, etc.).
  • Assist in tax filings and liaise with auditors and tax consultants.
  • Stay updated with changes in financial regulations and accounting standards.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Process invoices, payments, and expense reimbursements.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments.
  • Maintain vendor and customer accounts, ensuring proper documentation.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Assist in preparing budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Analyze financial trends and variances to support management decision-making.
  • Provide financial insights and cost-saving recommendations.

Audit & Financial Control

  • Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation.
  • Implement financial controls to ensure accuracy and prevent fraud.
  • Maintain proper financial records in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CIMA) is a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting, financial operations, or finance-related roles.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Xero).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial analysis tools.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to optimize financial and operational processes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with operational teams.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in financial operations, cost control, or procurement.
  • Knowledge of MFRS, MPERS, and Malaysian tax regulations (SST, corporate tax, etc.)
  • Strong communication skills for liaising with stakeholders and auditors.
