Research Assistant / Climber

The SE Asia Rainforest Research Partnership (SEARRP), via its not-for-profit company Rainforest Research Sdn Bhd, is looking to hire a Research Assistant/Climber to join our team for an initial period of 1-year (renewable - subject to mutual agreement and funding). The main tasks and responsibilities are: • Assist scientists by gathering, collecting samples (for example animal dung, beetles, insects etc..) and filtering research material and conduct laboratory experiments. • Assist in setting up traps in high ground area (including camera traps) for samples collection i.e. mosquitoes, fishes, insects etc. • Sets up, operates, and maintains laboratory equipment and apparatus. • Assist in sorting out specimens in laboratory. • Assist in tagging of animals. • Assist in clearing trails, plots and boundaries. • Assist in marking of plots and placing sign boards for research plots. • Assist in tree measurement and tagging. • Assist in providing safety application and guidance where necessary. • Work closely with other research sites to keep program operating efficiently. • Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of the management, formally or informally, either orally or in writing. • Perform any other duties when called upon by the Field Manager. The successful candidate will spend a significant period of time in Sabah, Malaysia in the field running of several projects. Candidates with prior experience are preferred. Requirements: • At least 3-years’ experience in climbing & in field environment • Fluent in BM and English for both oral and written communications • An ability to work independently, self-motivated and self-discipline.
