Bartender

What’s the job?

Great restaurant memories come from many places. The sights, sounds, scents and, importantly, service. As a Bartender, you’ll greet guest pleasantly as they approach the bar; promote house drinks and utilize up-selling skills to maximize revenues. Adhere to local regulations concerning health, safety, or other compliance requirements, as well as brand standards and local policies and procedures.

Your day-to-day

• Ensure the restaurant is ready to receive guests prior to opening and that both wait staff and tables are ready in line with opening standards
• Ensure restaurant operating equipment is clean and in working order
• Tell your supervisor or duty manager about any unsafe equipment, low supplies or safety incidents
• Obtain, count and secure bartender’s bank; receive cash and credit payments from customers; give accurate change and balance cash drawer at end of shift.
• Be cleaner than clean – meet or exceed local cleanliness and hygiene laws
• Inquiring if they have a reservation and noting it in the reservation book if they do
• Creating a reservation for them with their dining preferences if they do not and noting it in the reservation book
• Give guests a better experience by helping with any queries or advice
• Wear your uniform with pride
• Maintain detailed knowledge of menu, including daily specials
• Take on other ad-hoc duties when the whole team needs to pull together

What we need from you

• Demonstrated ability to interact with customers, employees and third parties that reflects highly on the hotel, the brand and the Company.
• Literate – you’ll need a good grasp of reading, writing and basic maths
• Articulate – a great communicator, you’ll be warm, welcoming and easy to talk to
• Compliant – as well as meeting local laws on food handling and serving alcohol, you’ll be above the minimum age required and fluent in the local language
• Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local government agency
