The Global Seafood Alliance (GSA) is an international, nonprofit trade association dedicated to advancing responsible seafood practices through education, advocacy and third-party assurances. Through the development of its Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) and Best Seafood Practices (BSP) certification programs, GSA has become the leading provider of assurances for seafood globally. The organization’s work addresses the full spectrum of responsibility, including environmental responsibility, social accountability, animal welfare and food safety.

GSA is seeking two experienced individuals to join our team as Regional Program Integrity Consultants. These are part-time remote positions located in Southeast Asia and South America.

Reporting to the Director of Social Responsibility, the Regional Program Integrity Consultant will support GSA’s Mission and oversee the integrity of GSA programs in their respective designated regions.

Responsibilities include:

· Communicate and work closely with GSA Program Integrity Staff.

· Provide guidance to certification bodies, auditors, facilities, and other stakeholders relating to program requirements

· Review non-conformities and other summary statistics from audit reports.

· Assess risks associated with certified facilities, Certification Bodies (CBs) and auditors.

· Recommend performance monitoring of certified facilities, CBs and auditors.

· Conduct performance monitoring of auditors and certification bodies as directed.

· Conduct and coordinate on-site and desk-top integrity audits as directed.

· Communicate with certification bodies, facilities, and BAP staff regarding program integrity compliance issues and sanctions.

· Assist auditor training as directed.

· Assist in development and review of new standards and guidance as needed.

· Maintain systematic record keeping.

· Provide reports and updates to the Program Integrity Team and GSA Management

· Develop and manage new projects in coordination with the US based office designed to strengthen and improve function, effectiveness and oversight of Program Integrity within GSA.

Other requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a field related to the skillset described
  • Working experience associated with seafood, auditing, and/or certification, or Master’s degree in a related field.

Specialized Experience, Certificates and Licenses highly desired:

  • Auditing experience relating directly to eco-certification, social accountability, and/or fishery standards.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, 17065, 19011, 17025, 26000, GFSI, GSSI, SSCI, SA 8000, BRC, SQF, MSC, ASC, and/or Global GAP

Job Type: Part-time, 2-days per week with future potential for 3 or more days per week.
