Head of Design - Construction

HEAD OF DESIGN - HOD • Working location : Port Klang • Job type : Permanent • Salary : Max RM30,000 • Benefits : 5-day week, free parking, coverage for hospitalization, surgical, insurance, etc Roles and Responsibilities • Foster a culture of innovation within the design team to develop cutting-edge solutions in formwork and safety platform systems. • Lead and mentor a large design team, including the development and implementation of training programs that allow team members to enhance their technical skills and knowledge. • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and other external stakeholders to ensure designs meet specific project needs and expectations, whilst adhering to relevant international standards. • Evaluate and refine design processes and workflows to increase efficiency and quality. • Establish KPIs for design productivity and quality to drive continuous improvement. • Manage design resources efficiently to achieve objectives within budget. • Oversee the Engineering department and assist with product development. • Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies to incorporate them into design practices. • Provide technical presentations or workshops for clients to enhance their understanding of design solutions and value propositions. • Identify and mitigate design-related risks in projects, ensuring safety and reliability of all systems. • Have strong project management skills to handle multiple projects. • The ideal candidate would have a bachelor’s degree in engineering, with working experience in the Temporary Works industry. • Report to board level on a regular basis, with regards to design department output. • Implement design software improvements to enhance accuracy and output. • Improve existing management control software, to enhance the speed of design. • Act as a point of escalation for resolving design conflicts or technical challenges that arise during projects. Requirements : • Degree in Engineering is preferable • At least ten years of experience in a managerial or senior-level design post.
