Job Responsibilities
- Legal Research: Assist immediate superior(s) and/or Director of Legal to conduct legal research on various legal issues, including case law, statutes, and regulations, to support the legal team in preparing legal opinions, memos, and briefs.
- Contract Review and Drafting: Assist immediate superior(s) and/or Director of Legal in the review, drafting, and negotiation of contracts, agreements, and other legal documents, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and company policies.
- Compliance Support: Assist immediate superior(s) and/or Director of Legal in developing and maintaining compliance policies and procedures, and provide guidance to internal stakeholders on legal and regulatory requirements.
- Litigation Support: Assist immediate superior(s) and/or Director of Legal in managing litigation matters by drafting pleadings, gathering evidence, and coordinating with external counsel as needed.
- Corporate Governance: Support the legal team in corporate governance matters, including drafting corporate resolutions, maintaining corporate records, and facilitating board meetings.
- Risk Management: Assist immediate superior(s) and/or Director of Legal to identify legal risks and provide recommendations to mitigate potential liabilities, keeping abreast of changes in laws and regulations that may impact the company.
- Legal Documentation Management: Assist immediate superior(s) and/or Director of Legal to organise and maintain legal documents and databases, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for the legal team and other stakeholders. Provide chronology and summary for ongoing legal cases and status updates as well as a proper firing system for each active and non-active files.
- Training and Education: Assist immediate superior(s) and/or Director of Legal in conducting legal training sessions for employees on relevant legal topics, promoting awareness and understanding of legal issues across the organisation.
- Legal Administration: Assist immediate superior(s) and/or Director of Legal in scheduling meetings, maintaining calendars, and managing correspondence. As well as, liaising with stakeholders, courts, and other parties involved in legal proceedings.
- Stakeholder Management: Interacting with stakeholders to gather information, update them on case progress, and provide general assistance. They may also help in explaining legal processes and procedures to stakeholders.
- Any other responsibilities as directed by Director Legal.
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B) or equivalent from an accredited institution
- Possessing prior internship or work experience in a legal setting which involves research, contract review, compliance, litigation support, or corporate governance is preferred but not required.
- Strong legal research and analytical skills with a proficiency in contract drafting, review, and negotiation.
- Knowledge of corporate governance, compliance, and regulatory frameworks.
- Familiarity with litigation procedures and legal documentation management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in legal documentation.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong understanding of legal and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive legal matters with integrity.
- Ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, courts, and external counsel.
