JOB DESCRIPTION
- Lead the development of an engagement framework for EPF’s nominee director (NDs) and act as the secretariat for EPF’s NDs, facilitating meetings and ensuring seamless coordination among stakeholders.
- Maintain proactive engagement with nominee directors and key stakeholders, addressing concerns that align with EPF’s strategic objectives.
- Lead and drive shareholder activism initiatives for the organization. This includes overseeing corporate surveillance activities, providing informed proxy voting recommendations and implementing strategic actions to mitigate risks and enhance shareholder value.
- Supervise research on specific governance themes including statistics on director fees, share buybacks, or Related Party Transactions.
- Oversee and guide the team in conducting assessment and research on of EPF’s investee companies to evaluate their practices and identify necessary engagement actions.
- Collaborate with the Corporate Sustainability team on Environmental, Social, and Governance (“ESG”) matters and propose appropriate strategies for engaging senior management in companies and institutions.
- Supervise the preparation of the Stakeholder Engagement report for reporting in the Management Investment Committee (MIC) if required.
- Guide the preparation of investment papers on proxy voting.
- As the first-level checker, ensure that all reports, investment papers, compliance measures, and commercial considerations align with the objectives set by the Section Head.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Preferably at least 10 years of work experience in Stakeholder Engagement, Corporate Governance, Investment Stewardship or other equivalent functions in the financial industry would be an advantage.
- Possess a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Law, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics or any other major from local or overseas universities recognised by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA)
- Strong understanding of shareholder activism, corporate governance best practices, and market trends, with demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge effectively.
- Strong leadership and has excellent communication and negotiation skills in managing internal and external stakeholders and present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and lead initiatives effectively, with a track record of driving positive outcomes in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.
- Strong written and presentation skills
- Passionate, resourceful and self-driven
- Strong financial and business acumen with good analytical skills
- Malaysian citizen
- Pass Malay Language including oral test at Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level or equivalent as recognized by the Malaysia Government
