Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, media outlets (print, online, broadcast), influencers, and key stakeholders (government agencies, industry partners, community groups).
  • Manage media inquiries, prepare press releases, media kits, fact sheets, and other communication materials.
  • Craft compelling stories and narratives that highlight The Habitat Group's work, impact, achievements, and commitment to sustainable tourism.
  • Oversee internal and external communications, including website content, social media, newsletters, annual reports, presentations, and investor relations materials.
  • Monitor media coverage (traditional and social) and proactively address any negative or inaccurate reporting.
  • Manage crisis communications and develop contingency plans.
  • Develop and manage the PR and communications budget.
  • Track and measure the effectiveness of PR and communications initiatives using relevant metrics and analytics.
  • Collaborate closely with marketing, operations, sustainability, and other teams across The Habitat Group to ensure consistent messaging, brand alignment, and integrated campaigns.
  • Manage and mentor junior team members (if applicable).
  • Represent The Habitat Group at public events, conferences, and industry gatherings.
  • Develop and execute strategies to promote The Habitat Group's thought leadership in sustainable tourism and conservation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of proven experience in media relations and communications, preferably in the tourism, hospitality, or environmental sector.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to craft compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
  • Strong understanding of the media landscape (traditional and digital), social media platforms, and influencer marketing.
  • Ability to develop and execute effective PR campaigns, manage media relations, and build strong relationships with journalists and stakeholders.
  • Experience in crisis communications and reputation management.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Manage and mentor junior team members
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
