Who is Everest Engineering?
Everest Engineering (Everest Software Engineering Sdn Bhd in Malaysia) is a Software Engineering and Product Development organisation founded in late 2018. Our founding teams were based in Australia & India, and our goal was to create a great place to work and an equal experience for team members no matter where they were based in the world.
Since our founding, we have stuck by our people-first values while navigating all the exciting and interesting challenges like the pandemic and the set of expected and unexpected challenges that exist in scaling a business. We have stuck together and by these values through this time.
Today, we have over 270 team members across Malaysia, Australia, and India. We have offices in Bangalore and Melbourne, and our presence is growing in Sydney and Malaysia. These teams are a mix of software and platform engineers, UX and product designers, business analysts, delivery managers, and those who support the management of the business, teams, and customers for a successful experience.

Job description: 7+ years of experience ( Mandatory)
Malaysian citizen (Mandatory)
Senior Data Engineers are accountable for implementing the platform and tools, collaborating with Principal Data Engineers to analyse problems and design solutions, owning and operating the systems in production, and mentoring and supporting more junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, development, testing, and operation of:
o Frameworks for creating, testing, deploying and orchestrating data processing pipelines
o Tools for querying, managing and monitoring data, including quality, security, lifecycle
o Tools for managing and monitoring data systems and processes
• Deploy, operate, and support data infrastructure and services on AWS and Databricks
• Maintaining platform health, ensuring that our systems are secure, reliable, resilient and cost effective.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience :
• Building and operating cloud-based data processing and warehousing solutions
• Big data processing experience, preferably Spark & Hadoop
• Strong software engineering, coding & scripting
• Ownership of deployments, infrastructure, system administration, monitoring, and operations (ie. DevOps)
Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• Data pipeline / ETL / workflow orchestration with Airflow
• AWS services, particularly EMR & S3, but also IAM, Cloudformation, Glue Catalog, Athena, Lambda, Kinesis, SNS, SQS, SSM, RDS
• Develop clean code using good practices like CI/CD, TDD, pair programming, code review
• Strong understanding of database and SQL performance optimisation
• Coding in Python, Spark, Scala
• Advanced Linux and bash scripting
• Containerisation with Docker
• Splunk and/or Datadog
• Git & Github
