Senior Analyst, GCR Concentration Management & Reporting
Job Responsibility
To assist SH in development of the appropriate credit risk concentration limits in accordance to the Group’s approved risk posture and direction, in order to achieve the desirable credit risk concentration in the following respective areas:
- Bullet and balloon repayment limits,
- Sectoral risk limits,
- Single Counterparty Exposures Limits,
- Threshold for conglomerate exposures, and
- Any other credit risk concentration limits deemed appropriate.
To implement and subsequently manage the approved credit risk concentration limits across the Group. Scope includes
- Malaysia head office (Bank, Islamic, Investment),
- Singapore operations,
- Thailand operations,
- Bank’s overseas subsidiaries (Cambodia, Laos),
- Investment Bank’s overseas subsidiaries (Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore)
To supervise and review the team member on the initial setup and day to day operationalization matter pertaining to the various credit risk concentration limits management across the Group. This shall include but not limited to:-
- Identification of the relevant info/data/input in effectively capture the relevant credit risk concentration limits drivers,
- Risk limits operational definitions and interpretations (e.g. country risk definitions and measurements),
- Limits request earmarking/allocation process for the pipelines,
- Month to month movement analysis,
- Concentration risk limits reporting (for internal and regulatory), including handling of manual data workaround where required, and
- UAT for any change/update/enhancement of the credit risk concentration limits system.
To undertake periodical/annual review with regard to the various underlying concentration
risk limits methodology and its risk drivers, and to highlight to SH any new risk identified
through the review process for SH further action/direction.
To undertake periodical review with regard to the identified SCEL / conglomerate groups / government and its related groups, to ascertain the relevancy and coverage of the reported and maintained groupings, and to recommend to SH any possible change in these maintained groupings, for SH further action/direction.
To assist SH in advising Business Units (Investment Banking, Corporate Banking, Business Banking) across the Group on determining the exposures and exceptions relating to the various credit risk concentration limits, at transaction level. Examples are
- Recognition of equity/debt underwriting transaction, in accordance to the local market practice if deviate from head office,
- Portfolio concentration risk (i.e. sectoral or bullet and balloon repayment transactions) and subject to which limit band/structure, and
- Appropriate escalation procedure when the MAT/limits are triggered.
To assist SH in the continuous development of the various senior management reporting deck pertaining to corporate and counterparty credit risk position, in accordance to the Group’s reporting standard and requirement.
To maintain a consistent and concise writing in reporting across the different corporate credit risk disciplines, jointly with the relevant SH/UH/TM, for the following subjects:-
- Sectoral position reporting,
- SCEL group position reporting,
- Counterparty position reporting,
- Regulatory and internal threshold reporting,
- Assets quality reporting,
- Risk appetite reporting.
To undertake forward looking or projection in relation to the risk position, assets quality direction; and thereafter to identify potential emerging risk, with recommendation of appropriate risk mitigations.
To compile and provide various investor relation / rating agencies / BNM requests, such as
- Sectoral concentration,
- Asset quality/impairments,
- Major Watch List (bonds/loans/financing),
- Major impairments,
- Major conglomerate group and exposures movement.
Job Requirement
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Banking.
- At least 5 - 8 years’ experience in areas of non-retail credit (credit origination / credit portfolio management / credit risk reporting) of a financial institution, including counterparty credit risk in the investment banking transactions and treasury and global markets transactions.
- Good command of the English language.
- Commercial banking experience.
- Investment banking experience.
- Treasury and global markets experience.
- Relevant regulatory requirement knowledge.
- Knowledgeable on credit risk related data.
- Knowledgeable on large conglomerate and its related subsidiaries/companies.
