Deputy Director of Research

The Deputy Research Director works with the Senior Research Director in leading, motivating, and managing a multi-disciplinary team of researchers across a varied set of topics to produce high-impact research, setting the direction of research in IDEAS and ensuring its research quality. i. Collaborate with the Research Director to set strategic goals, research priorities, and long-term plans for achieving impact in the policy space. ii. Lead and oversee the development of high-quality research projects focused on economic and public finance topics. A background in ASEAN, trade, investment, and/or labour policy is an advantage. iii. Ensure the quality of IDEAS research products including developing research methodologies, and identifying relevant mechanisms to ensure quality;reporting related progress and achievements. iv. Provide in-depth policy analysis and expert advice on economic, fiscal, and public finance matters. v. Build the team’s capacity to produce high-quality research,in addition to nurturing a culture of innovation, empowerment, collaboration, and performance for results. vi. Identify opportunities for new research funding and lead the development of research proposals. vii. Build relationships and identify collaboration and opportunities with research organisations, universities, academia, NGOs, and the private sector. viii. Advocate and advance IDEAS research agenda and overall positioning with key stakeholders, donors, and represent policy positions in public engagements including media, meetings, and fora. ix. Respond to topical issues related to IDEAS publication papers and policies. x. Provide feedback, conduct performance evaluations, and support professional development opportunities for team members. xi. As part of IDEAS management, support the overall development of the organisation.
