IQI is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Legal Counsel to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in law, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Job Description:
- Develop and implement strategies for managing and resolving disputes.
- Draft, review, and revise legal contracts, company resolutions, company policies, and other legal and/or commercial or corporate documents.
- Draft and review legal documents, including letters, memorandums and reports.
- Monitor and analyse relevant laws and regulations, proposing necessary changes to internal policies to mitigate risks and exposures.
- Provide legal research and support to the legal team across a broad range of matters, including conveyancing, litigation, and corporate matters.
- Collaborate with external solicitors and third-party advisors on company legal matters.
- Keep management informed about the latest legislative and regulatory developments.
- Actively participate in various ad-hoc tasks as assigned.
- Able to work independently with minimum supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- With a Bachelor of Laws degree and a Certificate of Legal Practice (or equivalent), or admission to the Bar of England and Wales.
- 1-2 years of experience as a practising lawyer, legal executive, associate, or in a similar role. Prior in-house experience is a plus.
- General and corporate litigation experience is an added advantage.
- Proficient in written and spoken English, Malay and Mandarin.
- Proficiency in spoken and written Mandarin is essential for reviewing and analysing Chinese regulations and laws, as well as communicating with local stakeholders.
- Strong critical thinking skills to assess fact situations, identify legal issues, analyse, understand, and apply relevant statutes and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and part of a team.
- Excel at solving complex, multi-faceted problems, demonstrating sound judgment in risk assessment and the ability to present informed solutions in a manner that balances business goals and people’s needs.
