School Librarian (Primary)
The School Librarian will take a lead in the day-to-day running of the Library. They will oversee the library systems and support the Library to ensure that the facilities and resources within the Library meet the needs of its users. They will also consistently monitor the existing system to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement. They will also oversee the daily running of the Library communications platforms.
The School Librarian will provide support to classroom teachers where needed in the delivery of the information and media literacy. They will also be responsible for organising and coordinating events in relation to reading and literacy, such as World Book Day and other school activities.

- The responsibilities of the School Librarian will include the following:
General
- Possess highly developed interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Comprehend procedures and practices necessary for the smooth running of the School Library.
- Coordinate library and information resource services across the School.
- Manage all physical and digital of the library.
- Provide resources appropriate for student and teacher learning that supports the curriculum and benefits information literacy and lifelong learning.
- Routinely review and implement the School’s Library Policy which includes legal compliance with copyright.
- Liaise with relevant outside agencies.
- Analyse current educational initiatives and trends in library and information services so that the service is based on the best and most up-to-date information and resourcing methods.
- Continuously monitor and ensure the library spaces and resources are adapting and evolving to the trends and needs of the community.
- Collaborate with other school faculty/staff on events and activities in support of literacy and reading skills.
Curriculum
- Promote a culture of literacy and reading across the schools.
- Support teachers in the planning, development and implementation of class resources as needed.
Classroom-related Activities
- Provide teachers with the resources needed to provide support for students' attainment of literacy and comprehension skills.
- Maintain a safe and secure educational environment by enforcing appropriate standards of behaviour in the library and during library-related sessions.
- Undertake tasks associated with the ongoing development of the School’s curriculum.
- Develop productive and respectful relationships with parents and colleagues to ensure effective learning for students at the School.
- Participate in professional growth.
- Contribute to the provision of a rich and diverse co-curricular experience for students in the School.
- Other duties as directed by the Principal or Head of School.
Resource Management
- Maintain the quality and care of library resources.
- Conduct regular weeding of library resources.
- Oversee the purchase and processing of Library and Curriculum Area resources.
- Prepare and submit Library budgets and expenditure in consultation with the Principals and Managing Director.
- Oversee and manage the Annual School and library stocktake.
Parents
- Conduct parent education sessions as appropriate in accordance with the needs of the community.
- Promote the School library as a community resource.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: RM3,800.00 - RM4,500.00 per month
