Assistant Air Freight Operations Manager
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Assistant Air Freight Operations Manager to support our air freight operations team in Malaysia. The role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of air freight services, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of shipments while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction. The Assistant Manager will work closely with the Operations Manager to supervise staff, monitor performance, optimize workflows, and maintain compliance with international shipping regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational Management: Assist in the management and coordination of air freight operations, ensuring smooth and efficient daily operations.
- Customer Service: Maintain and improve customer relationships, responding promptly to inquiries and providing solutions to operational challenges.
- Shipment Coordination: Oversee the end-to-end process of air freight shipments, including booking, scheduling, tracking, and delivery.
- Vendor Management: Liaise with airlines, ground handlers, and other service providers to ensure the timely delivery of goods.
- Compliance & Documentation: Ensure compliance with air freight regulations, customs requirements, and industry standards. Manage the preparation and verification of shipping documents, including airway bills, import/export declarations, and other relevant paperwork.
- Team Support: Supervise, mentor, and support the air freight operations team. Provide training and guidance to junior staff to ensure high performance.
- Cost Control: Monitor and report on operational expenses, identifying opportunities for cost optimization without compromising service quality.
- Performance Analysis: Assist in monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational efficiency and address any areas of concern.
- Problem Resolution: Address any issues that may arise during the transportation process, including delays, damages, or customer complaints.
- Continuous Improvement: Suggest and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, service quality, and customer satisfaction.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in air freight operations, ideally within a freight forwarding or logistics company.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of air freight operations, customs regulations, and industry standards.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems efficiently.
- Good communication skills in English (both written and spoken); proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
- Personal Attributes: Detail-oriented, proactive, team player, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in managing a team or supervising air freight operations.
- Familiarity with air freight documentation systems and cargo handling procedures.
- Knowledge of the Malaysian air freight industry and local regulations.
Work Environment:
- Office-based with occasional site visits to airports, warehouses, and vendor locations.
- May require flexibility to handle urgent issues and work outside regular hours when needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: RM4,500.00 - RM5,000.00 per year
